New Goal Achieved! Let's Talk Options

Well, I went away to visit family over the long holiday weekend, and you guys decided to take that opportunity to surge our patron total up once again! We've now leapt up past our $11,000 stretch goal, meaning we'll be able to do another bonus similar to the papercraft Mario we included alongside last year's Super Mario Maker issue.

An image of what that looked like is pictured here, to jog your memory – or to show you for the first time, if you're a more recent subscriber! We partnered with Cubeecraft's Christopher Beaumont to mass-produce his popular papercraft Mario model, which arrived packaged inside the plastic bag with every copy of Issue #16. With a few minutes' worth of free time and a handy hobby knife, thousands of readers were able to "make a Mario" to adorn their computer desks and game shelves.

We could go the same route with the new bonus item, giving you all a new papercraft model to cut out and build, packaged alongside one of our upcoming issues. Or, if you all would prefer something different, we can consider other options as well.

Bookmarks? Playing cards? An extra poster, or a size upgrade to one of the planned upcoming posters? We could conceivably make lots of different things happen, so long as the things are mostly flat and able to be packaged inside the plastic bag next to an upcoming issue.

So if you all have ideas, please weigh in with your thoughts in the Comments area below! We'll consider every possibility and then let you know which one is most feasible to achieve. I do have one idea in mind, involving Yooka-Laylee . . .

How about for the 25 issue, a big poster with all 25 covers?

I am still waiting on issue19 that I purchased from you guys on March 18, it is now past June 18, four later and no issue. You guys told me that you would look into this three months ago, and still nothing. What is going on here? Where is my issue 19?

Playing cards seem cool

I just really want a Tokyo Mirage Sessions poster tbh lol. But trading cards seem like a good idea too.

Maybe a promotional video Nintendo Power style.

Something Earthbound/Mother related would be cool. Maybe a CD or USB Flash drive could work.

Hey Guys! I sent a private message but haven't received a response. Who should I contact about an issue that was lost in the mail? I still haven't received my copy of issue 21. Been subscribed since Issue 1 was announced at 17 bucks. Please let me know! Thanks :)

wall decals maybe?

Trading cards

PLAYING CARDS!!!!!

Trading cards with some nice orginal nintendo art from all of the different franchises would be nice :)

I'm all over the playing cards idea!

Gonna toss my vote into the hat for trading cards. I would love small scenes or character bio cards based off of the Princess NF crew, especially. Something done in the style of the old "Marvel Universe" playing cards from the early 90's would be amazing, IMO.

I like the cards idea. Maybe some kind of collectible cards with art of the various Nintendo characters. Nintendo Power did the same thing with the Super Power Club Cards. Obviously, I'd prefer if these were a bit more high quality than the ones they did. More like actual cards.

I love the playing cards idea. Or even collectible cards like trading cards based on a Nintendo series. Or maybe a set of cool stickers?

Jason Gibson

Playing cards? 52 poker playing cards, plus 2 aces?! That might be asking too much, so I also request a special 2017 Calendar Poster and/or a music CD. Thanks for listening to the fans! Time to start thinking about the next Patreon pledge goal.

What about various cards ie, Amiibo cards, AR cards , trading & or promo cards ? Playing cards sound awesome too. What about a game themed lanyards, Don't misunderstand - I like posters but it would be awesome to have a variety.

I like the bookmark and playing cards ideas, they seem to be things that I would be more likely to use and enjoy, but just having an extra is exciting in and of itself. Congrats on making the stretch goal!

I'm interested in the diorama as well. Wrapping paper sounds cool too.

I would like a diorama which could double as an Amiibo holder similar to the ones that are currently only available in Japan. These could be folded and packaged flat in the magazine. Similar to the one here: <a href="https://sociorocketnewsen.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/ad-3.png?w=580&amp;h=384" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://sociorocketnewsen.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/ad-3.png?w=580&amp;h=384</a>

I like Papercrafts - and we stick them in our Two Button Crew videos! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xloLRXbjoic" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xloLRXbjoic</a>

I'm not exactly certain about what dimensions could fit into this magazine (perhaps it could be folded like the posters you put in recent issues) but delivering Nintendo-themed wrapping paper as a holiday tradition would be a fun idea. Perhaps it could be themed into Smash Bros. or even the Princess NF comics you run! Or (more likely) you could base the paper on whatever big-ticket Nintendo game is coming out this winter! I certainly know that I would love to see a Christmas gift envelope with Earthbound characters!

Bookmarks and playing cards would be interesting. They would provide something different, as many of us already have a ton of posters from your past issues.

A deck of Nintendo playing cards with Smash Bros characters would be cool

Eddie Barber

I like the two poster idea. Maybe make two normal posters instead of one double sided one so we don't have to choose anymore :)

Bookmarks would be cool and the idea is the amiibo card too

It would be cool if you can somehow set up a deal with Nintendo to get an exclusive NF amiibo card

Bret Cook

While playing cards would be a fun thing, I have some different ideas. I don't know how hard it would be, or if it would even be viable, but it would be interesting if you could do downloadable codes. Wouldn't it be neat if you could get a NF-original screensaver, or maybe some exclusive songs, or even perhaps a short video like an interview or a tour of the NF office? Perhaps with every magazine you could send a free download code- that way you could include those who don't get the print subscription.

Salty

I'm interested in getting some hands on Princess NF-themed playing cards.

A large poster to me seems the easiest and most usable item. Make it a classic Super Nintendo style poster with all the main characters of the time on it with some off the wall 90s art work too. That could be fun. But really any prize works for me.

Spencer Scott Holmes Old Man Orange

Special edition NF promo pokemon cards in honor of the 20th anniversary of course

Agreed! (was just listening to it again last night). I'm liking the idea of a physical soundtrack or demo

Playing cards would be awesome.

Aaron Tracy

A demo disc. This is the physical medium I miss most. Doesn't even need to have playable demos, as long as the content is unique. Videos of behind-the-scenes at Nintendo Force and video reviews would be examples of unique content. A disc that plays on the Wii U would be a bonus!

Don't really care about the posters since they get folded. Cards of some sort would be interesting.

Trading cards and playing cards would be nice, but I am also partial to large posters. Double the size that you provide now. If you remember the large posters GamePro used to have in 1993, you'll know what I am talking about. Basically a poster the size of eight magazine pages. :)

Retromags Brian

Trading cards would be awesome, but even bookmarks would be a neat, niche thing

Tim Cooke

Trading cards! Just like Nintendo Power's Super Power Club cards!

Nintendo-themed playing cards? Yes, please!

Another digital subscriber (from Day 1) here, so as nice as these physical bonuses are nice of you to do for regular subscribers, I always feel left out as a digital subscriber. I vote to put the money into the mag itself. Do a special super bonus mega sized issue with expanded features and stuff. That'd be nice for everyone!

Well I don't have any brilliant ideas, however I do wish to congratulate the Nintendo Force team for achieving another goal. Unfortunately, I missed the previous issues of your magazine before this excellent Mother 3 issue. Anyways, like this patreon subscription I've used Kickstarter to back one thing. That thing is a little game known as Yooka Laylee. If your Yooka Laylee idea is feasible I'd love to see what it is. It looks to be a fantastic game and I recently bought the 2 N64 Banjo Kazooie(as I haven't had the pleasure of playing through them) games to hold my thirst until it comes out. Anyways, I'm sure whatever is packed with the next issue will be splendid. Have a great E3 everyone!

Still haven't received a reply to an email I sent you on April 17 (I understand if visiting family is what's slowed you down). As far as the bonus item, I'm fine with any option.

A Nintendo figure would be awesome!

I would love some kind of soundtrack or music CD be included. One of the greatest NP rewards was the Smashing Live bonus item. Not that I'm expecting that but it would be cool to see something like that in an issue.

kodax_shc

Trading Cards would be amazing.

Trading Cards would be awesome, personally speaking. Cards based on the authors, the artists, the games y'all are loving, etc. ... Heck, I wouldn't mind at all it they were battling cards too. I play Anger of the Ox!

Whatever you decide to include, please include a digital copy with the digital issues. I'm saddened that we digital-only subscribers don't get the posters. If we had a digital poster, we could at least look at the artwork, and if we wanted to, we could print it too. Personally, I'm in favor of the cards doled out over several issues idea like in the old days with Nintendo Power. After six issues, you could have a full deck! Just don't forget the 2 jokers that should be included in the deck! My vote is for Wario and Waluigi to be the jokers. I know Matthew Taranto has experience making art for decks of cards. ;-) Hanafuda cards would be good too and probably better to look at, but I think more people would use the playing cards. A calendar series would be cool too. Just imagine: each issue could include a "poster" that's two months on one side and two months on the other side. Then the partial year calendar could be used for four months at a time! For example, the January issue has January, February, March, and April, and two issues later you include the next four months. Or it could be two or three months per issue. Or it could be printed on the thicker card stock paper so the calendar could stand on a desk. Or it could be printed onto four smaller calendar "pages" like in the old Club Nintendo desk calendars that slip into a card-stock-based holder to display them on our desktops.

Nz17

The papercraft was great, but I think it would be cool to do something different. Playing cards and calendar are definitely great options. If you go the additional poster route, it would be awesome if it's a unique poster, meaning not a larger reprint of cover art, but in the same mold as the clay-mother poster or something in an 8-bit style, etc. Could pay homage to old NP by including an extended issue with 90s/early 00s style strategy guides : ) but I think physical goodies are probably best.

If not the game itself, as that could be expensive, exclusive access to the toy box they're releasing? Again, that would be amazing!!!

So it has to be flat enough to fit in the plastic bag... Could we possibly get a Yooka-Laylee game disc!? That would be amazing!!!

I'm not so into the papercraft, honestly. You really caught my attention with the mention of playing cards, but I like the idea down in the comments of hanafuda cards even more. I mean, if there is a way to get a full set out over several issues, perhaps. Otherwise I really like the idea of a calendar. I used to use the Club Nintendo ones every year and I have been a bit bereft since they stopped making them. The calendar I found instead has not been a favorite.

Based on the previous comments this will obviously be unpopular but ANYTHING BUT PLAYING CARDS! It's not that it would be terrible, it just seems like that would be hard to do in a way that would please everyone and for me personally they would probably sit in a drawer. The last time I used playing cards was over a year ago.

I'd like another poster

Maybe a nice little desk calendar for the November/December 2016 issue that is a 2017 calendar for the new year, sort of like the Club Nintendo calendars: <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/98595452157/i-love-the-club-nintendo-2015-calendar-going-to" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://tinycartridge.com/post/98595452157/i-love-the-club-nintendo-2015-calendar-going-to</a> (But obviously, not copying what Nintendo themselves did, a different type of calendar, like a notepad calendar planner if possible.)

If it's practical to achieve, yes. :p

The Nintendo Force

I'm sure there are plenty of ideas people will come up with, but will we find out what your Yooka-Laylee idea is?

I agree, but maybe when it comes closer to release or a bit after E3?

I second the Franklin Badge, but reject your 52 Minor Tarot with a small Hanafuda deck.

Stupid Patreon formatting not letting me finish my thought and posting my comment twice. Anyway, what I vote for, if only to go against everyone else, is a small calendar. Fireman style. Yes, that "Fireman style". "12 months of Waluigi.

Oooh, I didn't even think of cards based off Hanafuda instead of standard playing cards!

A big Zelda Wii U Poster would be sweet!

Everyone seems to be voting for Hanafuda cards (i know they're saying just playing cards, but Nintendo was founded on Hanafuda, not the Tarot. Yes, playing cards as we know them are actually adapted from the minor Tarot). Stupid Patreon formatting not letting me finish my thought the first time. Anyway, what I vote for, if only to go against everyone else, is a small calendar. Fireman style. Yes, that "Fireman style". "12 months of Waluigi.

Yeah. The papercraft was lame. As I understand it, that could be printed off free from that person's website anyway. And, I don't need another thing to display on my desk with my horde of Amiibos and such. :P

Perhaps do a multi issue thing? Send a suit each with 4 different issues?

Congratulations on hitting the latest Patreon goal Lucas! I'm a digital subscriber, so my vote would be for just more pages of content, maybe a feature like a look back at some old games / companies / systems.

Ryan Yoo

Send out a suit of playing cards per issue, so anyone who's there for 4 straight months will be able to assemble a deck

Honestly I vote for "anything except a papercraft" simply because we already got a papercraft once and I'd like to see something different!

If we did playing cards, we wouldn't be able to do full decks. Cramming 52 different cards in with an issue would be kind of a nightmare. :p Would have to just be one or a handful, like Nintendo Power did in years past.

The Nintendo Force

Definitely playing cards. Not the normal kind though. Do like what was done with the Nintendo ones below, where the face cards are unique and each other card has one symbol replaced with a Nintendo one. Or you could do what Matthew Taranto did with his playing cards and have a Nintendo character in the background (maybe drawn by him again? Please!?). Or you could get rid of the symbols entirely and just have pictures with the number on the top and bottom. I have a lot of cards like that. I love playing cards. I have way too many already. Please do playing cards! <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Nintendo-The-Legend-of-Zelda-Playing-Cards-Japan-Import-/281737638482?hash=item4198df3252:g:HFMAAOSwDNdVk2XC" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Nintendo-The-Legend-of-Zelda-Playing-Cards-Japan-Import-/281737638482?hash=item4198df3252:g:HFMAAOSwDNdVk2XC</a>

A larger poster or a bookmark would be cool!

I honestly would have liked a Franklin Badge had this goal been reached before the month's issue. Something Zelda-themed would certainly work, too! I honestly don't think I have a need an extra poster (the Mother 3 poster is quite literally all I need!). One per issue is fine in my book! Maybe a Nintendo-themed deck of 52 cards, since I have a lack of creativity.

Playing cards, trading cards or bookmarks would be awesome. I'm not big into paper craft.

I have no real use for a papercraft, but cards or bookmarks seems cool! I'm a big fan of pins and stickers, too. I like having something I can put on a bag and/or guitar case.

Definitely playing cards. For the Ace? One of Star Fox's Ace pilots.

Nintendo themed playing cards sound amazing!!!!!

Bookmarks would be great

You piqued my interest at playing cards! I do love me a deck of themed playing cards!
