Corusca Online Blacksmithery

One thing I'd really like to see in the story is an interlude to show more grassroots reactions to major events. So much of Star Wars exists in the upper-stratosphere of the movers and shakers that decide the fate of worlds and the galaxy etc. It's rare that we truly see the 'ground level' on screen. Dex in the prequels was the first bit of someone we saw just going about his day-to-day, running a diner, who just happened to be an experienced retired spacer, who was friends with Obi-Wan. Cantina scenes in various movies are also so memorable because it reminds us that the Star Wars galaxy has uncountable numbers of just normal and not-normal folks who try their best to make ends meet while going about the business of life.

Corusca Online was introduced, as mentioned in the story, to subvert the eventual stranglehold Palpatine would have on mass commercial media, but it also allows anyone who is subscribed to it in the Corusca galaxy to get a voice and communicate.

With that in mind, I'd like to give patrons the opportunity to work on a CSO Interlude in the background, whilst I continue to work on Chapter 22.

Given that this is a Galaxy Far Far Away, there needs to be some guidelines and information for you to digest first.

Date and Time References:

1st Year of the Clone Wars = 978 After Ruusan (AR)/Current Story Year

60sec = 1 min ; 60min = 1 hour ;  24 hours = 1 day

5 days = 1 standard week ; 7 weeks = 1 standard month

10 standard months + 3 festival weeks + 3 holidays = 368 days = 1 year.

This is the calendar used by the Jedi, Judiciary and the GAR. Archivists used an 11 month year. Republic Infrastructure Department used a Hexadecimal? Calendar. Other worlds generally used their own. Date conversion tools are a necessary feature of all commercial data pads/IT devices.

Also there are no specific month names, just numerical designation. IE "Which month of 978?" "10/1st/2nd/3rd/4th etc."

Therefore a full date written out: 978.10.34

Spoken shorthand: “Nine-seven-eight, ten, thirty-four.”

Days of the Week:

  1. Primeday
  2. Centaxday
  3. Taungsday
  4. Zhellday
  5. Benduday

Character Info:

Jhoren Parat

The teenager Ahsoka saves the life of during the public transport bombing crisis in Chapter 11.

Finally got my pad back after being checked out by medical services.

I first want to offer condolences to everyone who lost someone yesterday in the skies above Coruscant. The War has not really had an impact on the capital world ever since it started, and many people here, especially in the lower levels, would be forgiven for even not knowing the ENTIRE Republic is at war at all.

We have the GAR to thank for that. Unfortunately, it seems the CIS are quite capable when motivated to find ways to strike at any world they target, no war droids necessary.

The only reason I'm typing this out now and are not part of the 1369 people who died, is because my skybus just happened to have an off-duty Jedi on board.

Now I can already hear you asking, "Just what can a Jedi do that would stop a falling skybus? Especially if the Jedi was onboard there too."

The answer, friends, is simple: use the Force somehow to carry the entire bus and act as its mystical makeshift replacement engine to land it safely.

Now, while your brains are restarting from the padcrash they experienced, yes, it seems some Jedi are capable of manipulating kinetic energy in the way that would be needed. It's not just lightsabers, super reflexes and throwing a shockwave or two.

To make this even more amazing... the Jedi wasn't even a 'knight'. She was a padawan (the rank just below a knight, for you ignos who don't open a history file). Further speculation on Jedi, their powers and so on can go to the dedicated Jedi board.

I just want to also use this thread also to express my thanks to her. She was pretty crowded by the passengers afterward and I didn't get a chance to speak to her, not before she was whisked away by Jedi and CPD. The chance that she'd even be on CSO in the first place is almost non-existent, I know, but the chance that she just happen to be on that bus at that moment, to save my life and all the others on board, was just as crazy small. Not to mention that I know that not all Jedi could've had the talent to pull the whole thing off.

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. As a result of the bombings, all skybus service has been suspended, looking for more bombs, and it's distinctly eerie to see a Coruscant sky without any activity. This is causing a significant amount of disruption as you can imagine. The grav trains are still working at least, to aid in the flow of people and goods, but they're being strained and working at emergency levels only.

There's no telling if they're also a target.

How are you guys being effected?

This is crazy. I work on those trains and at most I can count on three of my hands the amount of people using them. They're mostly for running cargo to the lower levels. Now we're packed up to the nostrils in commuters. Kriffing CIS. Kriffing war.

Now that you have that start, feel free to use the comments below to reply in character.

You can use as 'username' for the respondent your Patron name, if that name is too IRL or 4thWall breaking, please use another more fitting username or you can simply make up a username that would fit in the GFFA from the start.

Be sure to add 'tags' as well - giving context to who you're replying as. (CSO Founder) for example, simply means they were part of the initial groups who signed up to CSO and contributed X amount of credits to the site. (Coruscanti), planet of origin/ where they're posting from.

Also note that for the moment CSO is only in the core worlds, Coruscant, Alderaan, Kuat, Correllia, etc. In the mid-rim it'd depend on how close you are to the major hyperspace lanes. Hosnian Prime is connected, for example, but Thyferra is not. Expansion Regions and Outer Rim have no worlds connected at the moment. So no Naboo or Tatooine or Hutt Space.

Once everything has a suitable length. I'll make another Blacksmithery post with another possible thread topic. Then I'll compile it all, edit and there we go. If you have any ideas for thread topics, don't hesitate to mention them.

If you wish to speak as yourself outside of the CSO thread contribution here, encapsulate with square brackets [ ].

That all being said - have fun!

Never been more happy to be overworked. @SavageKrayt Do you know where to get more information on Jedi lore on their abilities rumored or otherwise?

Azrael Winter

It was in the early chapters

Jonathan Shaw

[What is this bombing they are talking about? I didn't see that in chapter 21 so how do we talk about something we know nothing about?]
