My System is not Serious Volume 2 Chapters 1-5

At 5 AM on campus, the sky hadn't even begun to show a hint of dawn.

The streetlights were off, making it rather dark. Only the brutes from the athletics department were already up for their morning run.

The university had five cafeterias spread across different areas. The one Chen Jiahao worked at was the closer, second cafeteria.

What his classmates mocked was that Chen Jiahao had to help haul the slop buckets every day. What they didn't know was that he also had to come in early to work before the cafeteria even opened.

"Hey, Fatty!"

Chen Jiahao greeted the man who ran the cafeteria, Fatty Ge, then got to work with the other financially struggling students who also worked part-time jobs.

Every morning was the same. While other students were still asleep, the various cafeterias were already up early preparing breakfast. After breakfast was sold, they had to rush to prepare the ingredients needed for lunch.

University students were cheap labor, and even more naive than the workhorses out in the real world. The five cafeterias competed with each other, so the food quality was actually quite good.

Chen Jiahao and the other guys unloaded the meat and vegetables from the delivery truck, then carried them to the back kitchen. It was all manual labor.

The girls, meanwhile, followed the older ladies to wash and chop vegetables, and then steamed the ready-made buns and zongzi.

After a flurry of activity, everything was ready by seven o'clock. Only then did Chen Jiahao tell Fatty Ge that he wouldn't be working here anymore.

Fatty Ge didn't try to make him stay. After all, the university had no shortage of such students. He said with a laugh, "Alright. I'll calculate your wages later and transfer them to you."

"Thanks, Fatty Ge. I'll be heading out then."

He ate a bowl of beef noodles and grabbed a takeout breakfast for his roommates on his way out.

Back at the dorm, Zhang Wei and Zhang Jiaqiang were already awake, yawning. The moment they saw the lavish breakfast, they cheered, "Thanks, godfather, for raising us! You're the best dad in the whole world."
