New Whitebox, and NBC News

Firstly: As we mentioned in last week’s update: we have the first “Whitebox” ready - think of it as a variation of “The Construct” from “The Matrix.”

It was made to “speed-test” the first iteration of the Beta mood/stat system.  It includes:

1 - Food
2 - Beds
3 - Entertainment sources
4 - Golf Carts
5 - A “Jungle Gym”
6 - NPCs
7 - Huntable butterflies
8 - Nine Cats
9 - Litterboxes
10 - “Mushroo”

The day/night cycle has been set to two minutes in length, meaning that your cats will be reduced to 0% food in six minutes, and comfort in about four minutes.  If either of those get to zero, the cat will disappear for a short period, after which it will re-spawn in one of their three respective areas.  When the cat re-spawns, you can again take control of it.

The purpose of this, is to have our playtesters speed-test this simplified version of the mood/stat system, and determine any glaring issues before we expand it.  Unfortunately, we don’t currently have “The zoomies” feature included, as this version is rather limited.  However, the next whitebox (which I figure we will have available near the end of June,) will contain a lot more nuance and personal preferences for each of the cats, as well as adjustments based on the reports from our playtesters.

In other news…

We’ve improved the “power line highway” across the whole island, to make moving about a bit easier. 

Laura’s started adding accessories to the game that the cats can wear - Gary, being the veteran politician, looks good even when wearing sunglasses at sunset.

Lance has continued his work on refining the controls, and we’ll all be improving the aforementioned stat system over the next two weeks.

The TV report was filmed, but the story was bumped to another day due to late-breaking news about a local house fire.  Naturally, we understood the importance of this.  Hopefully, our segment will get aired sometime over the next few days - if all goes right, we can include a link to the video next week.
