pg 8 thumbs & sketch
Added 2024-06-14 18:24:00 +0000 UTCOKAY THIS ONE'S A DOOZY!! In the thumbnail phase, this was actually two pages and they had a MUCH different vibe lmao! I've been working on this project for a long time, so there's character beats and backstory that I'm eager to get to, but I got WAY ahead of myself when I was drawing up the thumbs. It occurred to me later that introducing such heavy pathos like, 8 pages in would feel REALLY unearned and give the reader tonal whiplash, so I refocused the goal of this page to set up something more concrete. Here's hoping that when the character moments arrive, they'll pay off that much better!
This page also got a very late change, in the sketch you can see Alexander looking rather excited to hear the very vague and noncommittal promises Colette's giving him. The idea was to communicate that Alexander's naive and eager enough to take her at her word (I think on some level he still is), but it wasn't until fairly recently rereading this page that I realized it works so much better if he shows some doubt. That being said, I hope you enjoy reading future Sky Sea Saga updates. 😇
