Uncovering the Past

Today marks the one year anniversary of Wildlander, and the seven year anniversary of my first work on Wildlander's precursor, Ultimate Skyrim.

For this occasion, I knew I wanted to do something special. The theme of last year, for me, was honesty: honesty in my work, honesty with myself, and facing up to the vulnerability honesty requires. 

This video is my reflection on the entirety of the Wildlander and Ultimate Skyrim projects, and it is the most honest thing I have ever produced. It reveals the totality of this experience—the good, the bad, and the ugly—so I can focus less on fear of judgment, and more on what I set out to do in the first place:

Making the best darn game that we can. (And enjoying the process!)

From the bottom of my heart—our hearts—thank you. Thank you for your support over this past year, for your support over the past seven years (!), and for everything y'all do to help this project shine. There are no words to express how much we appreciate your support, and we're thrilled to climb even higher alongside you.

Daring Boldly into the Future

As many of you know, we have been hard at work on a total refactor of Wildlander's project organization. The goals of this refactor are:

• To improve the pace and transparency of Wildlander development,
• To clarify the vision and content of future Wildlander updates,
• To improve the volume and organization of player resources and tutorials, and
• To provide resources for customizing Wildlander with unofficial mods.

With these goals in mind, we are thrilled to announce that on January 31st, the team and I will launch the new Wildlander Roadmap, the completely rebuilt Wildlander Wiki, and the long-awaited opening of Wildlander Customization, including an official "Road to Integration" for mods patched by users and approved by the team.

We believe these new features will enhance the consistency and pace of Wildlander's development, the communication between the Wildlander team and wider community, and the foundation of the Wildlander project as a whole.

We look forward to sharing more details on each of these components as the month progresses. Until then, thank you again for your steadfast support.

It is truly no exaggeration that your contributions have made this project a reality, and we are beyond excited to see what 2023 will bring.
