Wildlander July Dev Blog! Let's look at the upcoming 1.1.6 Hotfix, and the 1.2.0 Content Update
Added 2022-07-06 20:39:18 +0000 UTCHello there Wildlanders, and a happy July to you all!
Summer is in full swing, and you know what that means: the latest info on Wildlander's upcoming releases. (lol)
Hotfix 1.1.6 gonna squash some bugs
The first order of business is Hotfix 1.1.6. This hotfix will be a bit more extensive than the previous five, which addressed the most cumbersome issues that squeaked their way into 1.1.0.
Now that everything is nice and smooth, we've identified some bugs that we'd like to stomp before moving onto 1.2.0 proper.
We do not yet have a release date for 1.1.6, but we are working diligently and you can expect it in a reasonable timeframe. You can also expect your existing saves to work with 1.1.6.
The meat and potatoes: Content Update 1.2.0
Now the fun stuff! Get excited for Wildlander's first major content update: 1.2.0 "The Jobs Update"!
1.2.0's primary addition will be proper jobs and professions, which I believe are invaluable tools for roleplaying and realism. This system is still in the planning phase, but you can expect most/all of the following:
- New basic job types, such as blacksmithing and tailoring
- Improvements to existing basic jobs, like farming and mining
- More general "job-like" activities, such as being a Bard
- More opportunities for freelance/contractor work
- Expansion of regional pricing to include more commodities
- More merchant NPC's to buy from and sell to
What you should not expect in this update is the return of Heljarchen Farm, and other similar mods. While those would qualify as "jobs", this update seeks to build a more general job framework/system.
You can expect more "baked" jobs and activities in later updates.
Look, ma! The first Patron Development Poll!
1.2.0 will also benefit from the first ever Patron Development Poll, where Patrons get to choose which features to prioritize!
The poll will be sent out today via an exclusive Patron post.
Patron votes are worth one point, while Super Patron votes are worth double! You can also vote anytime over the next week, so make sure to patronize if you haven't already. (Poll ends July 13th at 9:00pm PST.)
Make sure to include your Patreon email, or your vote will not be counted!
For 1.2.0, y'all can choose between the following content updates:
- Spell Additions and Magic Expansion: Spells, spellcasting, and spell learning will get a hefty boost to variety and mechanical depth.
- Religion Expansion: One of our most requested expansions. Expect a full overhaul of worship mechanics and deity bonuses, via... Wintersun? Pilgrim? Immersive Divine Blessings? Perhaps some combo of the three? Who can say? ;)
- Carry Weight and Currency Expansion: Carry Weight and logistics will get even more love. Enjoy more ways to expand your capacity, more ways to store and transport goods, new bonuses when carrying less weight, plus a more realistic and immersive Currency system.
As a bonus, I'm also including a grudge match between the two most requested followers:
- Everyone's favorite blue cat, Inigo!
- The ever-improving scholar, Lucien!
Make sure to cast your vote, and again, double-check that email is correct!
When can you expect 1.2.0?
In a reasonable timeframe, just like 1.1.6. ;)
The team gets (justifiably) upset when I jump the gun on release dates, so mum's the word for now. That said, I promise it'll be far quicker than the time between 1.0.0 and 1.1.0. (Ya boy just needed a vacation after two years of development!)
As always, feel free to leave any comments and questions below, and thank you so very much for all your love and support. It really does mean the world to us.
All the best, and until next time,
- Dylan and the Wildlander Team
