Frickin' Frigate is addictive!!

Ok, that lasted about a week before I decided too upgrade - there's so many cool things in Frigate that I want to add, so a dozen 4k cameras, number plate, face and animal recognition was going to start straining the CPU.

Added a dual TPU coral chip and packed in a bit more NVMe while the box is open and ... inference rates running at a silky 7.5ms and less than 6% Detector CPU usage.... you know what that means.... I'm going to HAVE to ramp up all the settings to 11!

Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! Frickin' Frigate is addictive!! It was a Intel Core i9-13900H from memory - although I'm not entirely sure what that means as I know they all hobble the version numbers for these mini pc chips!

That's exactly my 'long answer' to this question - I love Ubiquiti and I love Reolink, but Ubiquiti do charge waaaay more for everything. So when so many amazing open source pieces of software come on the market (eg Home Assistant for device control, Frigate for NVR/AI detection and all the rest), it creates a really interesting tension. For me, most of the camera system is just the hardware that remains - so Reolink will give me a super high res camera for 1/2 the price of Ubiquiti, so you start to think why would you!

Enormous! I've gone from CPU/GPU struggling a little bit with four cameras to 12 4k cameras at sub 10ms inference... amazing little chips!

Not that I'm aware of!! Consider it my 'winter coat'!!

It’s really great that Google puts out a product that is so straightforward to install. I hope it behaves well for you.

10/17 - Motherboard spellings and grammars are awesome! WARING! M.2 SSD may damaged when... At Airbus, we used these small LCD displays in our kit, made by a company called Densitron. One of the QA stickers on a whole batch of them had the company name as "Denistron" πŸ˜„ Apparently nobody had ever noticed but me...

How much of a difference does the TPU do?

Just googled Frigate! How do you keep up on all these cool new things. I'm looking into it now! I know I've given you grief about why not Ubiquiti Cameras.. But with Frigate, why stick with one manufacture or platform? WHY AM I DOING THAT? dang it... Also.. why 11? Because it's 1 more than 10!
