New Tier Images + 5th Tier
Added 2022-05-11 10:10:09 +0000 UTCAs many of you have undoubtedly noticed, I named my tiers after the layers of the atmosphere but then used electron orbitals for illustration, simply because I had nothing else at hand! I finally found a graphic designer to create some adequate badges and I'm quite pleased with them. I hope you like them too and feel somewhat better represented now :o)
On that occasion I have also after some hesitation decided to add a new tier that'll give you access to ad-free versions of our videos. By this I mean no integrated YouTube ads, and no sponsor messages, though we will keep the once-per-month Patreon message in that version, just so you don't have to go over to YouTube to check that we indeed put your name on the screen.
We will probably make the ad-free versions available here a few days before the public version, but that might not always work out (which is why it's not in the tier description).
I realize that the 5th tier isn't an option for most of you and might not even make sense. Personally I would prefer if it was possible on Patreon to opt for this on a case-by-case basis (you may want to watch one video but not another), but at least currently this isn't possible. And since several people asked for it, we finally figured out a way to do it.
I am really grateful for all of your support, regardless how small. Ad revenue on YouTube is extremely unreliable with big weekly fluctuations, and it's really the influx from Patreon that has enabled me to set up working relationships with my videographer and fact checker and thus free my time to think more about the content. Without you, none of this would have worked, so thank you all!
