Coming up on April 23

Hope you all enjoyed the Easter break! On the coming weekend we'll talk about a topic you may have seen popping up in the headlines in the past weeks, which is that the black hole information loss paradox was allegedly solved. I'll explain what the paradox is, what the new solution is all about, and why it ultimately doesn't teach us anything new.

Bitte Entschuldigung, meine Dame, das Video ist abert nicht schon da!

Good luck with the surgery.

This one is extremely interesting to me, but alas, I'm leaving in, hmm, 2 minutes for eye surgery requiring general anesthesia (but no hospital stay). I'll be unable to use my laptop for days at least, perhaps longer. I can at least "pre-comment" a bit by noting that a presentation I've been working on, at the link below, makes a few relevant comments on the holographic issue near the end. The main topic, though, is it's so hard to quantize general relativity, and what's needed to fix that. Later, folks. Please wish me luck as I go offline for a while. https://sarxiv.org/apa.2022-04-21.pdf
