Upcoming on Sep 4th

First of all a warm welcome to the new Patreons! Your support helps me to pay the videographer and the factchecker with whom I work on videos whose topics are not in my own research area. Without your support I wouldn't be able to keep the channel up.

This weekend we will talk about a topic that is close to my own research, cosmology. The current standard model of cosmology rests on the "cosmological principle" - the idea that the universe looks, on the average, the same everywhere. Alas, it doesn't look good for the cosmological principle.

I'm intrigued! Also, shout-out to the fact-checker for making sure you're serving us straight tea as well as shade. :)

2: It is a goal of mine to someday seriously study physics again. I think dark matter would be an area of interest. I was once told that our detection devices know dark matter/energy exists because they can detect energy regardless of its vibrational state. To me that seems like a response filled with hubris. It is like saying we developed this all seeing eye that can see everything. If everything we see makes sense, then one could argue that the eye is all seeing. Since this is not the case, we must conclude there is energy that we are not able to detect and one possible reason for this is it is at a frequency/energy level (or new state) that our instruments are incapable of recognizing.
