Added 2021-08-26 04:16:17 +0000 UTCThis week I have been traveling, the first time since pre-COVID! A video will come out of this hopefully soon. But this weekend I want to tie up some lose ends in my quantum mechanics series, namely the question just why quantum mechanics is weird. And there is no better way to illustrate this than the bomb experiment.

Dr. H, you paid it forward for me, so I had to join. YOU, and only you, finally explained ("Is COVID there if nobody looks?") to me that the quantum measurement "collapse" is due to the detector interaction and NOT the subsequent signal, human eyeball, human brain, human mind, or any woo-woo BS. I'm sickened by the number of otherwise very competent science explainers who just either get this wrong or communicate so badly (trying to be "fun", maybe) that the information is lost. Thanks.
