Taylor Swift - Fearless ( TAYLORS VERSION )

29 - 30 is Taylor Swift

Comments

I know that most swifties only want people to listen to the Taylor's Version but I think there's something lost if you don't listen to the original versions at least once. The songs are similar but not identical, it's not just her voice that has changed.

TSTS1989

The vault tracks for Fearless are my favorite of all her albums. In my opinion, Fearless vault tracks should have been the album and the album should have been the vault tracks. If that makes sense.

Cassandra

ah well for sure be checking out the Vault tracks too just wanted to compare the same tracks on this one :)

So excited that you went to Taylor’s Version but then you said you weren't doing the Vault tracks and I was like NOOOOO! Damn. For the other albums with a Taylor's Version, just do the new version but watch the music videos released during the initial release. That way you get the old sound for some songs and you get to see the videos. And please do the deluxe and Vault tracks! Google is your friend. If you want links, please let us know!

I really liked the vocal comparisons, I hope you continue to that with Red, Speak Now, and 1989 albums too!

haven't watched yet (I'm sure I am going to like it), but here's an explanation of what happened regarding her master recordings (I apologise in advance, I tried to keep it short lol): you probably already know how the industry works to an extend: she signed a contract with her label as a young artist to start her career, in which it was stated that the label owned her master recordings. her label was newly established by Scot Brochetta (I might be misspelling the name here, sorry), who "discovered" Taylor in Nashville and built his whole label on her brand - she made him as much as he made her. They had a lot of disagreements over the years because Taylor wanted (and managed to have) full creative control of her image and trajectory, but Scot was more traditional and was not receptive to the different styles etc she wanted to try (boy was he proven wrong again and again), but it was okay because Taylor saw Scot as a second father figure - they had spent the first 15 years of her career together, since she was 16 yo. When the contract ended, Taylor wanted to buy her master recordings and leave the label to go somewhere where she didn't have to fight for creative control. Scot sold the label (incl. her master recordings) without telling her to Scooter Braun, who was always vocally against Taylor (in all the Kanye drama and otherwise). Taylor found out about the sale from the news, she begged them both to buy her masters for a lot more money, but they both refused. The label was worth 300.000 USD and Taylor's catalogue was half of it. Scooter offered to let her buy an old album, for every new one she released, which would make her bound to him forever and always 6 albums down, so she refused. He then tried to play it publicly like he offered Taylor her catalogue back, but she was too greedy and wouldn't take the deal, plus he wouldn't even let her perform her own songs when she won Artist of the decade. So Taylor did what she knows best: she took it to the fans, posting screenshots of the emails between them on her social media and the backlash was even worse for SB. Now, because Taylor is the creator of all of those songs, she has the right to remake them if she wishes (after a certain moment in time - which I think is 6 years). She vetoes every request to use her old versions on commercials etc until the "Taylor's version" is released. She adds to the rereleased albums songs that she had written at the time but they did not make the album for one reason or the other (some because at the time they couldn't reach the production they wanted, some because they didn't fit the image of the good girl she had to maintain according to her old label etc) - these songs are labeled "from the vault". She treats the albums as new releases, with new photoshoots and promo etc and they have been even more successful than the old versions. In the meantime, Scooter has already sold her original masters for half the price (and the rerecordings are not even done yet), as Taylor has now destroyed them, because everyone is listening to "Taylor's version" instead. This move is historic, both by a marketing and by a legal/intellectual property pov, so much so that record labels are now changing their policies to prevent artists from doing the same in the future... Some songs to listen to about Taylor's feelings about the process: My tears ricochet, Mad women, Closure, It's time to go, Who's afraid of little old me?, and Cassandra

Are you doing the deluxe and the vault for Fearless?

I really like how you compared the vocals. I think this album really got elevated with the taylors version. But the further you get into her discography the changes are more suddle. Since she gets older. In 1989 its barely any vocal change but more of a little production change since max martin and shellback didn’t do the rerecordings. And they have an unique sound thats hard to replecate sound by sound. (Some swedish proud for then🇸🇪😅) I think you could do both if you want to. But its not needed. You kinda get used to the new sound if you listen to it enough. But i would totally watch both if you wanted to. Its only 3 rerecordings left as of now since reputation tv isn’t out and you’ve done the original already. I was a fan from the beginning, i don’t perfer the old ones because the nostalgia is still there for me. Speak now has a lyric change too. Also abigail is still her best friend. She recently had a baby and she appeared in the miss americana doc. Her low notes are sooo much better now. I think she was too young to go that low (which is fine we all grow into our voices) but darn has she perfected the low voice! Can’t wait for the deluxe/cault tracks for fearless 🫶

Great video! As to your question, I think it would be good to just do the Taylor's Version and not both, otherwise, it will take you a very long time! Especially when you get to Red.... What could be cool is to do Taylor's Version, but maybe just compare/contrast *one* of the songs to the older version? Perhaps the album opener? That would probably give you a good idea. Mostly, though, she tries to make them sound exactly the same, and the only difference is the mature vocals and enhanced/crisper production.

I just enjoy your reactions. It's kinda nice getting a doubled reaction if you do both OG & TV. Of course, I'd like them put out faster with fewer breaks between ;)
