Doodle and Commissions 2-17-21.
I'm still not quite back to normal after being sick, so I'm moving a bit slower than expected. It's fine though, as I'm still pretty much on target. Doodles like this one make for helpful warm-ups, especially when I notice I'm having trouble with commissions. I like this one enough that I might make a full sketch based on it at some point.
Following that is one of the last full sketch commissions now completed! I went for a more surreal, expressive vibe for the background, mostly because I wanted to incorporate some nice cool hues to contrast the bright, warm hues of the desert and the earthier hues of the character. Originally it was just going to be a desert scene, but the openness of it kinda made for a weak composition. The water helps divide the background into 3 more diverse segments and creates a focus around the character's face, overall making for a more focused image.
Lastly is the only remaining full sketch to do, and definitely the hardest! It has taken a long time to figure out the posing, and there's still a lot to do in terms of costuming and color so expect to see more WIP stages of this one!
