"Top 5 Worst Game Heroes" Short + Bonus Materials

This one was inspired by DMs with quimb, who also suggested Master Chief and Kratos as entries. He sent me a post that reminded me of the American Dad joke where Stan lists out his favorite fictional dogs. So I figured that Cranky would do a list of his most hated video game heroes. I knew for sure Sonic and Earthworm Jim were on there, as they were in the trash can in Cranky's Video Game Heroes in DKC2.

Since this is a Cranky Kong centric cartoon, it basically means I get to be stupid and petty with the entries!

Boy did the Halo fans in the Patreon have a time with when I was animating the Master Chief part. I'm def not familiar with Halo at all, so I did a simple Google search of what he looked like without the armor if possible. My guess was that he was like the Onceler-- not supposed to see his face. And very much like the Onceler, an adaptation gave us a look at his face, and both are just some random dude. Purple_LaDD had some choice things to say ab it, as did Kona and quimb.

In a stretch of good timing, a channel that I listen to, StephenVlog, uploaded a vlog entry where he stops to talk to a worm on the sidewalk. It was uploaded around the time I was doing the Earthworm Jim part of the cartoon, so I had to add it in. I also added his late cat Kepler, who passed a month back.

The Cray Toast was drawn on a photo of a piece of toast that Specter Coza sent on request. Large thanks once again!

I also purchased a plastic angler fish for the live action gag. Originally, it was gonna be a skeletal bird I got from 4 Halloweens ago, but I figured an angler fish above ground would be funnier.

To make it more juvenile, I added sounds from Cute Mario Bros. The First Movie during the live action part.

Of course the Sonic part is probably the most vitriolic, since I've wanted to rip on the movies for a good while. The BG is a crack at how they used image generator AI for concept art (Remember! Products of passion, promise!) as well as how male celebrity and female celebrity bear zero resemblance to Sonic characters, and the Sonic characters that ARE there all look uggo. I've already said that alot in the past, so this is proly the last I'll say/ref. I also threw in a dig at Sonic SATAM for similar reasons. Still have the childhood pettiness in me with this. Now if you'll pardon, I gotta go lick a lolly and skip in the grass.

And Mario is Cranky's old rival, so he had to be at #1. Nintendo may be doing it's corpo price-hikes... But at least they're still hiring artists like Mario. For my last bit of infantile ranting, I put a dig at BOTW/TOTK, since I despise how all the characters there are designed. Not enough hats on those hats on those hats on those ear rings on those hats, eh? Can't tell what you're supposed to represent if all you look like a bunch of doorway beads.

I also know I said Young Pauline and Diddy Kong were going to appear, but I changed my mind. The audience part of the cartoon was scrapped, but it's still in one of the layers in the original files I linked.

I had a good time working on this one! I may have it play at the tail end of the compilation format when more shorts are done.
