(START - 5 17 2024)
This story concept won the first poll! I'll have to add that as an end tag note for when this one releases.
First off, I needed to doodle out how I'd stylize the Grubchucker. And the boxin' Blue, why not.
I like how they turned out, and I kinda wanna do more with that. The Grubchucker in Pikmin 4 was a disappointment for being really unthreatening and taking a trillion years to eat a Pikmin, so what if this could make them look cooler and more menacing?
...Until Blue starts mackin' on him. I also figured since it had claws, it would be fun to see it be able to pluck Pikmin from the ground by itself.
I also figured Boxer Blue smoochin' up the Grubchucker would be funnier if he had a Winged Pikmin he was literally holding hands with at the start, before Mr. Chucker grabbed her. Think Boxin' Blue's gonna be a recurring Pikmin.
I'll be updating this later, next step is figuring how the BGs are gonna look for this Pikmin Bit.
(UPDATE - 5 20 2024)

Got the first shot finished, and there was a lot of poses that were altered.

She was originally going to be a regular Wing Pikmin, but it was changed to be one of the same from "Livin' the Groovy Long Life". As in, I added the flower pendant.
I had to reposition the stems here to better assist the moves.
I also used a more rugged brush for the BGs this time to better emulate The Angry Beavers.
I wanna try using minimal frames for this Bit and focusing more on the stretching of the inbetween frames. Could help with saving time.
(UPDATE - 5 21 2024)
The Disgruntled Rodents, coming soon to the Megalodon Network, home of hits like The Rain and Stump Show, and Felinefortune. Too bad they cancelled SpongeRob Cubejeans after just one season.
Anyway, this was one of my favorite shots for just surrendering to the Angry Beavers influence. I somewhat agonized on how I'd have the gloves appear, since I didn't want him to just whip them out like anything. So instead, I had him PUNCH them out, to give it that specificity. I'm pretty happy about that.
Visualizing the shot balance for this scene.
This pose was changed, since he looked like he was offering the glove to the creature.
I did the ol' Catscratch unibrow on this sketch, but it was changed for the Angry Beavers approach.
This glove's angle was off, so it was tilted to feel more attached to Boxer Blue.
The flower was changed to better suit the motion.
The head was too wide, making it look like it was stretching out as he backed up.
The stem was shortened, since it looked like it was growing as he was moving.

This one went over smoothly, and I think I'll do the shots with the Grubchucker's silhouette next. I'll have something obscure it's lips at first so the punchline hits a little more.
See ya there!
(Update - 5 22 2024)
This shot was somewhat complex, so I wanted to try doing less frames than I'd typically do. I used hard shading reminiscent of the Oxnard Montalvo scenes in The Angry Beavers. I might mess with the colors to give the Grubchucker more mystique in this shot, as well as rotate the camera a little when it pans upward.
I changed the ground to avoid having to draw out the dirt animation.
I had to change the claw shape to be more accurate to the game model.
I changed the legs to match with eachother better.
I had to zoom into the ground to make it seem closer than the BG. The little dots were the same size as the BG's, and it was bugging me.
So I've got two more shots to finish for this Bit! Since this won't be public for a few more weeks, I could possibly add more in order to make the shots transition a little smoother.
Gotta sleep now, BE BACK SOON.
(UPDATE - 5 25 2024)
It's basically done, I just need to adjust the end tag to add two more Backstage members! I did all the music and SFX, so the workprint is now attached to this post. Enjoy!
(UPDATE - 6 1 2024)
This Bit has been done for a while, but I added the intro and the end tag with all the pretty pictures.
Now, I can call this entirely FINISHED!
In closing, thanks for reading along during progress! This has been one of my favorites in terms of how it looks, and how horrid the make-out sesh was. I'll treasure this Pikmin Bit for a good while, and I definitely want to have the Boxer Blue show up later.

(NOTE: You'll have to outright highlight the entire link, copy it and paste it into the bar, since Patreon seems to only embed part of it. Kay, time to finish the "Cannon Larva Carnage" one, cuz I'm gettin' antsy for the "Gengar's Shadowplay" thing I picked back up.)

Blue Pikmin? More like “blew’em a kiss, man” on the lips…… do blue pikmin even technically have lips?

2024-06-01 18:59:37 +0000 UTCThanks! That was from the Angry Beavers influence too, where they'd have the blur conveyed through the color rather than through the line art. I figured it would do wonders for a limited frame animation.

2024-05-22 10:51:08 +0000 UTCMan that would be one hell of a good idea for that enemy. It can be able to plant enemy pikmin by jumping and landing on them, then pluck them out with its pincers into its mouth to make them easier to grab. This enemy had so much potential to be fun to fight.
