In my tradition of posting my monthly updates days before the end of that month, here's your September update with one day to spare! This time, though, I have an excuse. Well, two excuses. I wanted to post this once Castaway Wife was actually available on Amazon (et al), and I really needed to focus and finish In Too Deep. Now that those things are checked off, you get the news!

For those of you who aren't patrons and don't know what this is, Castaway Wife is my take on the reality show Survivor (which just started a new season, for those interested!). I've wanted to write this story for a while, but couldn't crack it until recently. I'm really happy with the end result.
As Z already noted in the Community thread, Castaway Wife launched early over on Amazon. I'll be doing a bigger, promotional in the upcoming week, but if you want to go check it out, here's the link to the Amazon page. There's also a print version (sorry for the price of that one, but it's the only way to really make a physical copy make sense for an indie author). If you don't want to buy it on Amazon, I'm distributing it to a wider world. Keep tabs on my website and hopefully it'll get added to your favorite digital bookstore: https://www.kennywriter.com/book/castaway-wife/
For my patrons, the biggest question you may have is: how is this different from what I've read?
The answer is, honestly, subtly? I took a lot of your feedback into consideration as I went through it again. The most work was put into the last few chapters (with a good amount of help from my editor, Miles Evans, who rocks—thanks so much for your work, Miles!), and I think that it now fully tells the story that I wanted to tell.
Should you buy it?
If you're a patron, the choice is entirely up to you. You can still read the "final draft" version here, and everyone's been more than amazing helping to craft it and offering feedback.
If you're not a patron, hell yes to buying it—especially if you're a Survivor fan (or, I suppose, Big Brother or any other game-like reality TV). You'll pick up on a lot of the fun nods to the genre.
And if you do buy it, please leave a review on the site that you purchased it. Reviews go quite a long way to surfacing the book in the Amazon algorithms.

It's done. Whew. Wow. That was, without a doubt, one of the most intense writing experiences I've had. As readers know, the conflict in my plots tend to be more focused in the interpersonal relationships. This one had some big, external conflicts going on. I also tend to be a "pantser" rather than a "plotter," (look it up if you have no idea what I'm talking about), so having to sit down and outline the plot was difficult for me. Like, really difficult.
I've written this before, but when I originally sat down to write this years ago, I got through the first book (as posted here) before running out of steam (or getting so confused in my own plot that I gave up). I won't give spoilers here since some of the readers haven't read the book, but let's just say that the book has evolved quite a bit since then.
I'm not joking when I say that the only reason I finished it was because of the patrons. Seriously. I would have given up again and put it back on ice. And it wasn't just the pressure to post another chapter that kept me motivated—it was everyone's passion in what was happening. One of my favorite things was reading your speculation and getting giddy when you either figured out the real plot, or were playing right into my hands with a red herring.
But like I said, exhausting. I need a break! At least for a bit. I have some thoughts on Amanda and David's next adventure, and you may see a hint of that in the final epilogue / first story of The Harrington Files.
And for those who aren't patrons and want to know when this will be available, I'll probably start publishing this in December, earliest. It was originally planned to be three shortish books, but book 3 blew that plan up, so now, it'll be two longer books (books one and two now combined).
Okay, so now that In Too Deep is done, you all want to know what's coming next. It's a fair point, and I've got a fair answer.
First, this week (first week in October) is going to be pretty chill. I'm going to try and get that epilogue done, so you'll have that, but honestly these last few days have been spent getting Castaway Wife ready for distribution.
After that, here's what you have to look forward to:
Never Too Late to Play

I've alluded to this one before, but this is my exploration of a hotwife fantasy for a woman who is over 50. It had the working title of: "Adventures of a Mature Hotwife," but after some feedback from readers telling me that made them think of granny panties and retirement homes, I switched it up.
This is a story told in three parts. The first is written. The third is actually written (although will need to be changed). I've begun the second part, but as always, would love to get everyone's thoughts as we head into that.
While We Were Apart (new series)
As mentioned before, this is the current work-in-progress. Just as a refresher:
Morgan and Nathan, a college couple, decide to "take a break" during their Junior Year, as Morgan goes abroad to study in London. When she comes back, they get back together, only nothing is the same. This profound moment early in their relationship ripples through the rest of their lives. This series, which I'm just now finishing up part five of, follows the couple as they grow up and deal with the time that they were apart. It's kind of my exploration of the roots of the hotwife fantasy. Kind of like a much more drawn out version of the Blonde in 3C.
And again, as I've said, five separate story arcs have been written for this one. I'm not sure if I'll post them all together, or spread them out with shorts. Depends on how into it you all are.
Untitle Honey Trap Hotwife book
Another book that I began a while back (although not quite as long ago as In Too Deep about a husband and wife team who run a detective agency that specializes in helping with divorces by laying honey traps. They never go too far, until they do...
It's another plot-heavy book that required more outlining and framing than I was prepared for, and I ended up getting tied up in knots. But it was a really great read, if I do say so myself!
And, of course, In Too Deep 2
I mean, come on, right? How can this not be here. There is excitement and momentum in this story, so depending on what the muse says, this may jump up to the top, just below Never Too Late to Play.
New Best Hotwife Erotica anthology
It'll be coming out by the end of the year. The theme this time is: "Fun and Games" which should be... well, fun. I love those types of stories, and I'm excited to see what Lacey, Paul, Sean, Kirsten, Max, and Delores come up with. Also, I need to get on writing my short!
Something new from Ben Boswell!

I just saw this posted on Medium (although I've also had the privilege to read a draft of the whole thing and it's hot). It's called Adventurous Olivia, and is a series of short scenes/chapters about, well, Olivia. Definitely in the cheating wife genre, but also definitely a great read.
Check that one out here: https://medium.com/@ben.boswell.author/adventurous-olivia-i-the-car-trip-810ab50e6e5b
New hotpast story from Paul Garland

I haven't read this story beyond the first chapter, that's posted on Medium, but I'm really excited for this one. It's called, I Know Who You Did Last Summer, and seems to be an exploration of a "break year" of the couple in question, and what the wife may have done while they were separated. I love that theme (in fact, it's the seed for my While We Were Apart series above). Looking forward to this one.
Limo Driver and His Wife on Medium

And since I'm plugging other people's stories, might as well plug my own (this is for the non-patrons). The entirety of The Limo Driver and His Wife is available now on Medium. Take a look there if you haven't. I'll also be publishing this as a novella on the bookstores later in the month, if you'd rather read on Kindle.
Note about Patreon users paying through Apple
I meant to post this in a previous update, but if you are paying through Apple, the subscription will be more than the $5, since Apple takes a 30% cut from Patreon. So if you've noticed that your subscription shot up over the last month, that wasn't me!
Here's an article about it: https://news.patreon.com/articles/understanding-apple-requirements-for-patreon
Basically, you should probably swap to paying directly to Patreon, and it'll come back down to the regular $5.
And there you have it. Finally, a decent sized monthly update. Take care, all, and thanks for your support!
