"Make your way to lot three please," My clone, holding a clipboard in his hand, called out to the Kaguya in the centre of the seal box.
I took in the slightly downcast look on the forty-seven-year-old Kaguya's face as he let out a sigh and muttered about a past fight in his life, cursing someone's name in the process before he made his way towards the lot of Kaguya's that needed healing.
There were three lots in total, spread around the giant seal box in the middle of the training ground I'd rented out for the evening.
Lot one had been created for those considered, by me or rather the clone I'd put in charge of it, exceptional in terms of chakra capacity or their inborn talent. With the Kaguyas specifically, their bloodline made it relatively easy to weed them out using this unorthodox method. In charge of said lot was a Hashirama holding a shit-eating grin on his face- Originally it'd been a Jonin Senju that I'd co-conscripted before word got around of the bullshit I was pulling.
Lot two was for those who effectively passed their health check and were considered up to par- It was rather hard not to be with a bloodline like the Kaguyas- and who, depending on their age, were either handed an application for the Acadamy to be signed by their guardian or parent or were handed one designed to fast track them into the corps themselves. The latter was accompanied by several trainers whose job was to figure out what their specialties were, which considering the information I was giving them, was more of a matter of seeing how talented in said field they actually were. My former teacher was currently leading said group, an almost just as shit-eating of a grin on his face.
Lot three was the damage and repair ward, led by none other than Tobirama himself, who as soon as he'd heard of my little shenanigans had been the first to show up, take a quick look around, and immediately disappear before returning with the best healers the village had to offer- Who just so happened to be Senjus. His side of the field wasn't actaully helping out with anything- The majority of the quote-on-quote healing being done was handled by a clone of mine. The most common lasting injury so far had been a chakra blockage of sorts that seemed to affect a majority of the elder Kaguya, something that was admittedly rather easy to fix when one had access to a pseudo-Byakugan. The healers themselves weren't there to help, no, they were there to learn. Every so often I'd see them reach out for a particular Kaguya's file with hints of surprise and realisation as they connected it to another illness they struggled to learn about.
The box in the centre, surrounded by the rest of the Kaguya that have yet to go through had four different seals etched onto each corner of it. The first one was a seal that limited the effect of the seal I'd given to each Kaguya before they'd joined the vilalge so as to let their chakra run its course as it was supposed to, while holding the diverse effects of their bloodline at bay, there was a single clone at the corner with it, placed there to deal with any problems that might arise from it.
The second was a seal that connected directly to another clone, feeding that one all of the information echoed out by the amalgamation I'd created which said clone inscribed into a file for whatever Kaguya was currently been screened.
The third seal was one that echoed out the bare bits of what the echo was seeing, which in effect created the pseudo Byakugan effect and was the leading cause of every Hyuga currently watching's enmity towards me.
Evidently, they hadn't thought it was possible to recreate their bloodline. Granted this wasn't exactly something I could just slap on someone and have them use but it was a jab at them all the same.
The fourth seal, and the one currently being gawked at the most by Mito's handful of seal masters who'd elected to join me in the middle was the one that connected them all together into a makeshift chakra scanner that translated most of the nonsensical (Read binary) numbers into a basic seal language they were familiar with.
All in all, I had pretty good numbers for viewers- I'd probably make a living off the ad revenue that would've come out of it.
And honestly, all things considered, I had Aizen of all people to thank for this knowledge- It wasn't something I had to figure out how to learn, it was something Soul Society had originally used before they'd advanced enough to stop relying on the equivalent of sticks and stones. Because that's at its core what this all was. Sticks and stones rubbing together to hopefully make a fire.
Soul Society hadn't needed that in my time there, no. They had modern full-on scanners that not only figured out a problem but actively solved it in the same breath. Hell, they had clothing that could pull it off by that point. But for the masses here? This might as well have been magic to their eyes.
Ironically the most common feeling I got from those watching, including the Senju brothers, was shock that I was somehow capable of healing of all things.
That and a hint of anger, annoyance, and all that good shit from the clan heads that were pretending not to care- After all the vote regarding the Kaguya had happened mere days ago and if not for my influence regarding some of those clans, they would've voted the wrong way and found themselves on my bad side (at least in their opinion) which was were most of the Hyugas and ironically the Inuzuka's problem with me stemmed from currently. They were the only two to vote otherwise, so they were the only two who staunchly believed I wouldn't recreate this for their clan members.
Because ignoring the appraisal test regarding a person's specialities, the sheer amount of information an extensive medical screening offered was exceptionally important for a post-warring era world where healers had been not only limited in numbers but outright specialised regarding specific fatal issues as opposed to the mundane.
The Kaguya's following today were going to have the highest rate of survival by the simple virtue of having a medical file that explained everything that was wrong with them in their current state, while at the same time offering a baseline for what was considered healthy for them to boot. And the other clans desperately wanted that for themselves, they just didn't know how to go about asking for it.
For one, they likely assumed a public screening was a condition of it- It wasn't- and so they feared their clan secrets coming out and for two, it involved them asking me for my help.
The Senju hadn't given a shit regarding that- Hell Tobirama had already booked tomorrow for his clan, and told me without a wasted breath it was going to be done in their compound. The Uchiha clan head, from the moment he'd seen what was going on, had requested a meeting for the day after to discuss terms.
The rest were kind of floundering on how to ask, though I had a feeling most of them were going to go through Hashirama which was one of the leading causes for his good mood. Today was the living proof of the ironic success he'd practically preached about regarding my inclusion despite all the red flags.
...
"Danzo." I blinked somewhat out of my focus, a nearby clone of mine I'd created as a backup in case that happened immediately took over my part in circulating the chakra for the seal itself albeit with annoyance.
Turning towards the voice, I found Tobirama standing beside me, a somewhat interested look on his face. "There's a problem with one of your Kaguyas."
My Kaguyas? Hol' up when the fuck was I named a clan head?? Pretty sure they had one of their own!
I elected to save that little question for later as I let out a sigh and got up from my place, my clone letting out an even more annoyed sigh, though that one felt intentional.
"My clone couldn't fix it?" I questioned idly as we walked.
Tobirama shook his head from my side. "He told us to call for the original."
Fixating my gaze on the clone I'd set about for healing, I found him focused on a new patient already, the one I am assuming having an issue been the one off to his side, having three different healers probing at him.
The age difference between the latest patient and the new one was arguably the bigger selling point- I doubt a child of eight was going to have any major issues compared to the sixty-three-year-old staring at the so-called Senju healers with mild annoyance.
My clone didn't even bat an eyelash at me as I walked past him.
Idly grabbing hold of the file Tobirama reached out towards me, I gave it a quick glimpse and immediately frowned at the notes written on the side of it fixing, or rather, putting actual terms to what I thought was a new illness of sorts.
Evidently, my work wasn't as good as I thought, and neither was my clone's ability to heal a Nature-Blockage.
"This is remarkable work," Tobirama remarked, his gaze scouring over towards the temporary scanner I'd built. "Theory could only go so far on its own, but this... This is something else, recreating the effects of a Byakugan is one thing- Translating it to someone who doesn't possess it is another..."
That was another startling little discovery- Chakra was read quite differently by a Dojutsu. It wasn't just a matter of acquiring the eyes, it was also a matter of one's brain adjusting to them and not simply to the extra sense they offered but the sheer utter contrast the information it offered.
It was why sensors were so rare- It wasn't the actual techniques that were a problem to learn as anyone could theoretically train to use a sensing jutsu, it was a matter of whether their brain could adapt the information they got from said jutsu into something understandable.
Some ninjas were born with an innate talent to understanding the clusterfuck that was a regular chakra network, some were born with a defect that let them see that information differently like some inborn Genjutsu and some had a Dojutsu that could automatically translate it like a Hyuga's Byakugan.
And ironically, that somewhat explained how a Mangekyo was formed and more importantly how varied its abilities were. The biggest discovery was the fact an Uchiha's Mangekyo entirely surrounded their life, entirely surrounded the very cause of their awakening. But honestly, anyone with a brain and enough context could've guessed that.
What no one can guess was... If a Byakugan and Sharingan had this kind of complexity to them... What the fuck was it like looking through the eyes of a Rinnegan?
I filed that particular thought away for the moment, my gaze squarely falling on the Kaguya with a Nature-block instead.
"I'll admit, I am genuinely impressed," Tobirama said truthfully. "You've pushed our medical division by a decade at the very least." A beat passed as I processed the man's words.
"We don't have a medical division." I deadpanned towards him.
"We do now," Tobirama said, with an absolutely serious tone to his voice.
Yay? I guess?
I shook my head off that and focused back on the Kaguya at hand. His earlier annoyance towards the healers prodding at him shifted as his gaze fell onto me, the man's expression softening a great deal as a wistful smile took over his face. "I don't imagine you have a solution for this old man?" He joked. "These youngsters seemed to be rather resolute with their thoughts on it."
I wasn't surprised.
A regular Chakra-block was formed exclusively from overusing chakra. The excess tended to widen one's chakra Tenketsu points. Which on the one hand meant one could theoretically release more chakra from that particular point than usual, but in reality, it was a singular point that tended to widen, which resulted in that particular point not getting enough chakra through it as the points surrounded it simply weren't large enough to accommodate it.
The Kaguya, much like the Hyuga, tended to use far more Tenketsu points than the average ninja, which made a chakra block harder to find.
There were two usual side effects to a widening of one- The first was the aforementioned problem where a particular point just wasn't getting enough chakra which tended to make that part of the body much more difficult to move or even function. The other issue was the opposite and tended to only occur the closer it was to one's heart. And that was the build-up of far too much chakra at a point that was used to it too much to function otherwise, which meant it had too much to push around the body.
One's Tenketsu didn't naturally widen- It only occurred when one's mind willfully demanded more out of it, and short of flight and survival, that was hardly likely to occur which meant the former issue ended in someone having trouble using a particular Tenketsu point, or the latter where that Tenketsu was effectively causing a blockage of chakra dangerously close to one's heart.
The Hyuga had a solution to it, which was to temporarily shut off said point and restart it to reduce its swelling (Even one close to a heart wasn't too dangerous to shut off, provided it was for a limited amount of time), while the Kaguya had none as they rarely tended to live long enough to notice the problem.
My solution instead of relying on a hyuga who might've held a vendetta against me was to simply reduce it forcefully with a slight bit of spiritual chakra (Which might've annoyed the Hyuga even more). Instead of attempting to reduce the physical aspect, I was practically telling it that it wasn't the right size enough times until its brain adapted it and reset the point directly.
This geezer was an exception.
A very, very big exception.
He was a sage- Or he had the makings of one in his youth at any rate.
He hadn't widened his Tenketsu simply from overusing his chakra, the fucker had accidentally been using Nature energy instead all his life and had effectively created a Nature-block instead.
That... required shutting off said point, with nature energy, and no fucker could do that without accidentally killing the man and I personally just couldn't use Nature energy aside from throwing it out all at once given it saw me the same way the Nine-tails saw most of humanity. IE it really, really didn't like my chakra network.
Still, in of itself, Nature-blocks weren't that rare. They had a tendency to sprout in the Senju, which was where Tobirama's familiarity with it came from. Hell Hashirama probably had a whole fucking encyclopedia's worth of knowledge with that little problem.
It was however really fucking rare for a Kaguya to have, and even more dangerous considering they used far, far more Tenketsu points than a Senju.
Talk about having shit luck!
I idly took the old man's chakra network in with a sigh and noted the fact it was eerily close to the fuckers heart to boot.
"I say you got ten years left in ya," I remarked idly, earning a blink of surprise from the man.
"So these youngsters have told me," The elder sighed. "The amount of time, Shimura-sama, is less of a concern in truth... It's rather the pain that comes with it." He let out a wistful chuckle. "Ten more years of this is... not exactly enlightening."
I nodded at that. "I could fix it for ya if you want, but uh, you'll probably lose a few years."
Odds were the Kaguyas were probably one of the only clans that could survive the procedure considering they were the only ones that could naturally recreate their own bones.
Anyone else was... uh, likely to have major complications if so much as a bone snapped during it.
He blinked at that, his half-brows raised up ever so slightly.
I locked eyes with him. "Ten years of that, or five or so pain-free, your call."
"Tobirama-sama." One of the healers started up at that. "There really is nothing to be done. It's too dangerous to attempt anything-"
Tobirama raised a hand at that, his eyebrows raised as he stared at me.
"The choice is in the Kaguya's hand I believe,"
The healer's annoyance and worry rose up at that. "We can't fix-"
"I believe that job falls to Danzo-kun." Tobirama continued, his gaze slowly turning towards the thirty-two-year-old.
"...A child of ten cannot possibly-"
"And yet you're here taking notes," Tobirama remarked thinly. "That's enough. I did not bring you here for your expertise, Shimo-san."
The healer- Shimo evidently, held his lips at that as he let out a slightly less than respectful bow to the man, though he elected to hover nearby.
"...Can you guarantee me that?" My focus found itself back on the elder at that.
"Five years?" I scratched at my chin. "Yeah, I can do that much-"
"Getting rid of the pain, I meant." The elder chuckled. "I've had many promises in the past, and have rarely seen them come through."
"Oh yeah." I nodded quickly. "You'll definitely be pain-free-" I gave him a smile. "Success or not!"
I could literally feel the discomfort that suddenly oozed out of Tobirama at that statement.
The elder blinked at that. "...Should I put my affairs in order?"
I shrugged at that and promptly stretched my hands, the bone popping sound admittedly as addictive as I remember. "Depends on your will to live I suppose."
The elder gave me a long look at that. "...I would not be here today if such a thing was low," He chuckled, a tad nervous.
I grinned at that. "Then you ain't got nothing to worry about!"
"Danzo." Tobirama promptly remarked from beside me. "What exactly are you planning to do- I am sure you realise the usual method for reducing a chakra-block won't work here,"
"Mhm," I nodded to the man. "I ain't reducing anything. I am gonna use a little technique called Biofeedback instead." A beat passed. "Full disclosure, this isn't something anyone can replicate, so I'd recommend telling the Uchiha not to attempt it themselves." I locked eyes with my teacher.
"Biofeedback?" Tobirama questioned, utterly ignoring my warning for caution regarding his favourite clan. "I am not familiar."
"You'd be a god if you were," I snorted at that. "It's a little trick I like to call telling the universe to go fuck itself."
"...That doesn't explain anything,"
I rolled my eyes at the man. "I am gonna rewire his chakra network."
"...Bullshit." Tobirama immediately responded using my own word against me, "Do it." There was a very, very, hard-to-read look on his face before he turned towards the confused elder in question.
"Tobirama-sama! That's highly unethical-"
Tobirama promptly ignored his own clan member's protest. "Agree to this Daichi Kaguya and if anything happens to you, you have my guarantee that your immediate family will be taken care of."
"...That is... certainly ominous..." The elder chuckled. "Danzo-kun... If I may I call you that?" I nodded. I didn't really give a fuck, to be honest. "How... likely is its success?"
"Like I said, depends on your will to live- Shit's gonna hurt real bad," I admitted.
"...What do I have to look forward to, exactly?" He immediately questioned. "I have accepted this lot in life already- while I would like the pain to go, it is not something I am not used to."
"Like I said," I repeated myself, albeit as kindly as I can manage which wasn't much. "Ten years like this, or five years like you're in your twenties." I lowballed him.
I hadn't done this on someone else before so... better to err on the safe side of my projection.
He processed that for a moment before he took in a deep breath and let it out. "Very well. Allow me a moment with my family first,"
I had to hand it to the Kaguya, not a single one of his three children, nor his sole grandchild of twelve raised a complaint regarding his choice, despite the sheer want to.
In the end though, he didn't let out a single peep- Evidently, he'd been understating the pain he was constantly in, seeing as he barely noticed my jutsu, every few moments the man asked me when I'd begin as a joke.
He hadn't gotten five pain-free years.
He'd gotten eight.
Twelve if he decided to live healthy, but considering his first thought was that he could finally have a strong drink again, I doubted it.
When it was over, a gobsmacked Tobirama had a very jubilant and energetic sixty-three-year-old go through my rudimentary scanner multiple times out of sheer disbelief.
I on the other hand had a newfound problem in the healers demanding I join their fatal hospital.
