Update Info v0.2.4 | Post 2 | "How to build a Castle"

Hey there, I hope you all had a great eastern (or simply a great week if you don't celebrate).

Just like in the last post we will stay at awkwarts a little longer, because that's what I invest most of the time into. Below I will give you some insight of the work and progression from the start to the finished location. Enjoy!

After creating the scene location of the Dean's office and the great entrance hall, I was looking on other assets for more castle feeling. But none of them really satisfied me. I then came back to an asset called Castle Builder, I originally thought it's just for outside shots of castles (most Daz3D assets are designed either for outside or inside shots but rarely for both). But after testing around a little bit I decided to use it to build some parts of Awkwarts.

If you remember, in the last post I showed you Vi's Dorm Room. It was my first test to build something with the Castle Builder. This time I'm excited to present you the corresponding hallway with Portal and Statue of a powerful Magician of the past.

The statue itself was created from a normal figure with Magic Clothes and props.

By replacing all the textures and shaders of the figure and the waredrobe I turned it into the stone statue you can see above. What do you think? How does it look?

After tinkering and creating the location it was once again time for the lighting. Setting up good lighting is one of if not the hardest thing if it comes to 3D rendering. Every time I create a new location I do a good amount of test renders with different light setups. Below I will give you a rough idea about what I mean. But because I don't want to bore you I will add some images of different moods and times of day. I always do this, like creating day, dusk, night and other variants, because this way I can experiment around more than just trying different daylight settings.
