...Kind of. Sort of. I doubt Rask envisions culling of the sick and weak to feed protector predators.

Oh gees. I'm definitely not willing to consider these people "the good guys" after their culling of the old and weak (and in fact, that's probably absolutely central to this society; the wolves don't hunt the bison, but eat the dead ones, and perhaps kill the old and sick) and the backstabbing and lies and child murder and manipulation, but this is certainly interesting.

That the Bison and the Wolves are partners, it's definetly some twist, but also...they are BUILDING things >.>

Absolute cinema! Really! The build up was awesome : all this time we had the stranger pack being affiliated with the "old guard" and bringing bison meet, so we always expected them to be "wolf traditionalists" and the bisons were exploited but instead we have the revelations the antagonist are actually even further on the path to coexistence (the wolf and bison ruling may even be an inter-species couple) than the protagonist.
Which isn't illogical as they're opposed to our heroes because of circumstances, not ideology, and we have now no idea how the future conflict will go on, or even if there'll be one.
It's also a massive middle finger to the old wolf : he sold Swift and co in the name of traditions and is now under the rule of a group completely anti-traditional, when in comparison Swift was far more traditional UNTIL he pushed her away with his crap and led her to attempt contact with the Forge.

That's a helluva way to start the morning; I see an update for Oren's Forge and pull up the full page. Disappointed that it's not Swift and the pups, but then gained interest with "huh, they trapped bison. Wonder if they used traps like the cougars." Then I see the hands in the final panel and actually did a full head tilt and "Huh?!". Dis gon B gud.

WAIT, ONE MORE WILD PREDICTION BEFORE NEXT WEEK: the hand taking the spearhead from Singer isn't a bison, but a javelina - the species that taught Oren how to make metal in the first place

Makes sense.. Wolves protect the Bison from other predators. Just wondering how the 'Culling' system works out.
But major achievement re co-operation, remembering one of the early scene's of a bison being stalked and killed by the wolves.

Damn, now that's a twist! I wonder who's in charge here, and what kind of deal the bison struck with the wolves, for them to forge an unlikely alliance like this! I didnt think I could get even more excited for the next installment, then this happens!

What a twist! All this time I was prepared for a pack of wolves controlling the bison. I agree they must have struck a deal- and I wonder if this was the bison's way to control the wolves instead, but the pair being a wolf and bison implies to me it was something more genuine. Couldn't possibly be a utopia though- we can tell from his answer in panel 2 who's really in control. In a similar vein, the bison definitely feed the wolves, so we know there is some type of qualification for being offered up. I'd hate to end up being the bison equivalent of a second class citizen here.

I'm really delighted with this twist. I didn't expect cooperation/alliance between bison and wolves. Now I can't wait for the third part. It seems that this bison learned the language of predators, otherwise we would have green speech bubbles.

So then what happened to Red was a calculated attack brought about to make Swift’s pack desperate. The bison they killed in the beginning of the first chapter was a social outcast?

Wonderful plot twist that I can't wait to see the meaning of in the third installment! 🙀 Interested to see what kind of deal they made. Maybe something like the Bison giving up their weaker members, or perhaps the bodies of the deceased? Maybe a completely different situation? Looking forward to the answers!

And the plot thickens, becuase that looks like a bison's hand/hoof. Maybe the wolves and the bison have struck a deal with one another, rather than the wolves being in charge like we thought? Would explain why there's "nothing" stopping the bison from trampling them
