Aaaa ahaha I finally updated my payment info after my old card expired, and I apparently picked a good time to re-subscribe!! Still absolutely phenomenal and, like, the only reason to look forward to mondays.

reminds me of a documentary i watched once. A wolf pack was moving on to another area, but there was an older pup who couldn't keep up because of a limp. The pack left him as they relocated the other pups, and the one with a limp just stayed there to fend for himself. Like a week or so later, the father came back for the injured pup and walked with him to the new area. Almost like "if you can survive this long, you're worth coming back for". Obviously real wolves don't think through things that way, but it was interesting for sure. Wonder how it will play out with Keen...

Keen has a reasonableness to him, where he grabs Swift by the scruff and here he is grabbing her by the head but not really hurting her. Whereas Singer aims specifically to cause pain and the crush spirits. Both with his teeth and his words. Scree and Swift are making a mistake in turning their back on him. They will pay for it in the next page I'm sure

Scree really said “fuck you for going after children”! 👏
My guess is Singer will for sure abandon Keen. It seems to fit his motif and general beliefs. I don’t think Swift will hold much empathy for him (not that she should) but she seems to be a fair enough figure to let him live or give him some sort of trial (I don’t know if they have any sort of democratic decisions in the carnivore community)

They’re gonna have to take out both these guys, then the one back with Gristle and Ramble (who I hope will get the chance to join his sister; he seems like a sweet kid).

And suddenly the odds are against Keen and Singer... That snapped bone takes Keen out of the equation. A few pages ago I wouldn't think that a team up of Swift and Scree is possible and yet here we are. Really intense and interesting story development! And as for Keen's fate we can guess what's going to happen—Swift's pack was unusual in the matter of caring for the injured and these who couldn't hunt any more. It seems that regular wolf packs just abandons these who have no chance to recover. It doesn't even have to be because of malice—wolves are on a constant move, a wolf that can't walk wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest.

Ouch, Scree did *not* come to play games!
Amazing how one injury can suddenly open up a range of possibilities and questions. Is Keen’s injury bad enough for Singer to abandon him? Or is he still worth saving until he “proves” he can’t keep up hunting anymore and they throw him out of the pack to fend for himself (or, rather, starve)? Or does their “survival of the fittest” theory only apply to everyone except their own?
If he’s abandoned or thrown out, would Swift’s pack take pity on Keen? Or by doing as he’s told (albeit willingly) is he forever their enemy and not deserving of pity or empathy?
No matter how it goes Keen just became a *much* more interesting subject in this story

Yeah, I think scree just changed his life. Reduced him to a life of scavenging dead things and eating bugs.

Yup, it was a move that is arguably as risky as just running away, but they managed to make Singer and Keen in trouble. Singer doesn’t seem like the type to be able to fight two wolves on his own now that Keen is demobilized.
