Hhm, conundrum. I mulled this over awhile, as you can see. ;P I agree for prose, but I think, personally, for dialogue I can get away with the 'have' in the 'we've' contraction as an informal verb. I picture him saying it more conversationally/languidly than a full formal "We have."
