Oren's Forge PG 250

Quick note: You may notice the file size is a little bit larger (from 700x1054 to ~800x1200px).
I'm going to be retroactively working through the previous posts and swap the pages with the slightly larger files, but it's the exact kind of tedium I will likely drag my feet on. I'll have it done before the end of the year, tho.

New page out next Monday!

I think you have to consider too that by encouraging Seral to find a mate, they guarantee that those pups would be half of their own bloodlines with a sprinkle of genetic diversity from Swift’s pack. By killing Red, they force Swift to find a new mate who is one of their own. Killing the pups removes any ties to her previous mate and old pack, and also eliminates the possibility that she might put their lives above those of any new pups she might produce. If you can’t earn the loyalty of the pack you absorbed, you can still lock them into your system of hierarchy with genetics.

Why you carrying the tooth, Gristle?

i do wonder if gristle would be as okay with all this if his head was one of the ones on the chopping block. it's easy to say that this is the way of the world when he's been offered a place in this new pack himself

So Gristle is down with killing the pups as well... It's astounding just how desperate the pack has become. The entire purpose in a survival-based society is to pass on your genes to the next generation. Pups are the most precious part of a pack for that reason. For the grown wolves to be in a position where they must give up their future generation in order to not be wiped out is just unnatural. It also finally hit me why the new pack would want these pups dead. It's not about whether they are weaned or not. It's because they are the pups of these newcomers, these outsiders. Of course the zenith pair of the pack doesn't want any resources going toward a new generation of potentially unworthy wolves. Singer even said that Seral might father pups once he proves himself as a good hunter. As far as that pack is concerned, Swift's pack must earn the right to birth a new generation in this world. It's a power play, and a brutal, brilliant one at that, because Singer's pack likely knows that they are just that desperate.

Very engaging conflicts & feels, also congrats on 250 pages!

I’m wondering if Gristle is going to give her the spear and let her try to run away with Red and the pups.

I'm really liking Swift. She knows wolves need to stick together.

I noticed that Gristle still has that broken spear from earlier. Oh no, Gristle, what are you up to?!

Sivle Fredrickson

I mean, you can see it from both sides. They both think they're doing what's right, but in the end either or could be wrong.

Rizer Stake

I appreciate the depth of world building that even though this would seem inexcusably abhorrent to the reader, it still comes across as morally gray within the context the characters live in.

Daaamn.
