Oren's Forge PG 199

To clarify— yes, that’s the one-eyed wolf from pg 119, just a little older and worse for wear. The other wolf is the same as from the first ~10 pages of the story with the bison— her design is a bit different just because my style has evolved since 2015 when I originally drew her. (No idea what I was thinking with how I originally drew her neck rough, to be honest.) Redrawing the early wolves is high on my to-do list, as far as updating art for the print edition.

SO, WHAT’S NEXT?

A fine question! The next volume of Oren’s Forge will continue pretty much where this first one has left off. Rask will still be the main protagonist, you’ve not seen the last of Hemlock, and, as you can probably guess, the wolves are going to play a big part.

I’ll be spending the majority of May working on updating older artwork for the print edition, since the KickStarter funded in under five hours(!) I’ll be posting progress here, plus a layout tutorial and taking some polls for wolf names in May.

In the later part of June, I will start posting a short, Patreon-only comic about Oren and the One-Eyed Wolf. Hopefully it will add some insight into Oren and let readers get to know this wolf guy and the history between the two.

I plan for the main story to continue this year in the fall. There’s a lot of conceptual art I need to make leading up to it and I’ll be posting that here throughout the summer.

Thank you, everyone, who helped support this comic!

It would never have been finished if not for Patreon, nor would it have evolved into the story it is now. Comics have become my full-time job and I’m really grateful to have the chance to craft and share stories. If you decide to stick around through the summer, know it’s sincerely appreciated! Otherwise, I hope you see you back later this year when the main story continues!

Is she related to delta?

And vice versa really...Rask would also become more deadly in the process. Works both ways.

A little older and worse for wear and also appears to be losing eyesight in the remaining eye. I am really looking forward to the continuation of the story.

I am not in the furry community, but I still appreciate this story for its beautiful illustration and complex characterization!

"Her"? lol, i thought it's a male. You surprised me there ^^ At first i thought that i can distinguish characters' sex by looking at eyebrows, but that theory was quickly busted when i scrolled down and saw Cotton's and Sprigg's thin eyebrows, with both being stated as a male :P I wonder if there's any method. Maybe smell xD With younger wolf of these two being a female makes me think that she might be the alpha, mentioned by Blackfoot's companion when they were chasing Rask in the forest. Also, huge congrats on successful Kickstarter. I wish you all the luck and joy you want. Thank you for a beautiful story and for sharing it with us all here. I hope it will catch the eye of people even outside the furry community :3

Nightwolf Starlight

Something about the shapes used for the younger wolf tells me they'll wind up joining the warren.

We'll have quite enough material to wait until fall for sure.

Now that you mention it, I do recognize the other wolf! It’ll be cool to see their role in the story, especially since Hemlock’s gang is a whole other faction entirely. Will it be a 3 way battle (of wits and/or fists) or will Hems and Oren form a temporary truce to take on the wolf threat? Or, most likely, will Rask try to find a way to make some kind of peace with the wolves? There’s more I wanna speculate on but I’ll be here all day if I do that! Lol Also major congrats on the Kickstarter! ^^

True but I like that they're butting heads as much as they are, conflict makes for excellent story. Plus hopefully she learnt *something* from the fight with Yarrow.

BritishRabbit

The beauty of the last two pages' scenery can't be overstated <3

I enjoy the irony that Rask could have helped Hemlock actually train/work out methods for how to use a spear, had she seen the potential in him.

Teagan Gavet

I like Rask, but I'm glad we'll see more of Hemlock. Hopefully she'll take some time to practice with that spear though, especially if Wolves come poking about!

BritishRabbit

Can't wait to see what you bring to us next. Good luck on everything!
