What’s Coming in 2021
Added 2020-12-23 22:00:03 +0000 UTCWith 2020, things are wrapping up in this first part of Oren’s Forge. There’s still a bit to tell though, a surprise (I hope) in store, and a short epilogue that will set up the next part of the story.
Before I get into the upcoming road map for Oren’s Forge—one quick thing. Even if this year hadn’t turned out to be quite what it was, I wouldn’t have been able to continue to work on Oren’s Forge without everyone’s support here on Patreon. Sincerely, thank you to everyone for making it possible!
What’s Coming in 2021
KickStarter
It’s about time! Early next year I’m planning to launch KickStarter to get some English language hard-copy books printed!
The goal is printing two hard-cover volumes with new/updated cover art, touching up some art in the older pages, concept and character art in the back, etc. Good stuff! I’m still working on KS specifics, but my number one concern is quality of printing in the final product.
When I have an official launch date/time (likely late Jan/early Feb), Patreons will be the first to know! I want to give you guys the first crack at any special tiers if you want ‘em. (For instance, I’ll likely be doing a signed/numbered run with an exclusive bookplate for 100 copies.)
Thank You Page for Patreons
In the second volume, I want to include a thank-you list of Patreons who’ve been subbed for at least two months (not necessarily consecutively.) This will be opt-in, so don’t worry if you don’t want to be on it. I’ll post a form in January and leave it available until I’ve finished the book’s layout (March, probably). It’ll just ask for the name you want printed and your Patreon email so I can verify.
Patreon-Exclusive Comic “The One-Eyed Wolf”
After the epilogue, I have plans to do a short (15-20 pages) comic for Patreon, about Oren and the one-eyed wolf all the way back from page 119. It’ll shed some more light on Oren as a character in his younger days and the decisions that lead him eventually to the Stone Hollow.
I’ll post this comic exclusively to Patreon at first, then make it available on Gumroad for ~$10 some time after it’s finished.
The Next Chapter:
The story isn’t done— there’s always more questions that need answers!
I have the bare bones and story beats of the next chapter laid out. In the long term (think, summer 2021) my scheduling gets a little hazy. I’ll need some solid time to finish the writing, design new characters and settings, build up a stockpile of pages before I return to posting, etc. When the time comes, I’ll either put the Patreon into hiatus for a couple months or just post sporadic WIPs, concept art and teasers. Anyhow—it’s a ways down the road and who knows where we’ll be in six or seven months.
I am really excited about this next chapter, however. I don’t want to give anything away— it’ll pick up where the first leaves off with our established characters, but will introduce some new ones, including an apex predator.

The Gluttons are the BIG ones nobody's near them, they're basically the big bads and they are all cats (actually think they ARE cougars... and they are insanely legit evil). And with how this comic seems to be going I wouldnt really depend on knowing what characters come next being their ecosystem you can probably count on just about everything showing up eventually imo.

Given the ecosystem in which they appear to live, the only possible apex predators are grizzly bears and cougars, perhaps grey wolves too, but more unlikely that grey wolf be considered as an apex predator of the same level as the other two. So, I think, and hope, that the new character will be a cougar.

Feeling pretty anxiety-bruised by 2020, honestly. I may just do pins separately as a pre-order later next year, rather than looping it into the book's KS. But, we'll see! :]
