Oren's Forge PG 175

Oren's Forge PG 175

It has after all been a couple of days, it'll need more time.

All the more reason for Oren to keep everything under control and with as little conflict as possible. Their position is too critical for them to loose any time quarreling: it's only a matter of time before (a) predator(s) notice(s) the bear is long dead and they'll have to be very prepared to compensate their lack of fighting abilities in comparison to said predator(s). Any time lost chatting can spell doom for them all.

Both of you are on the money. I like there is no easy solution because that feels very grounded. They can't hide forever but I am wondering what their options are. Also in Hemlock's defense, just the fact that she offered to let Rask go away in exile is a improvement, when we first met her she had no issues with just killing him on sight. Obviously she has her prejudice and fear of hunters, but I think that she can even see Rask as an individual in that regard shows some growth, even if it's not as opening and understanding as we'd all like. :0

Yeah, I like how this is unfolding. Even is Hemlock's antagonism is to drive the story forward with conflict I honestly don't think she's wrong, but maybe not understanding the whole picture. In Regards to Oren, on a long enough timescale they can't stay hidden forever, but I think Hemlock has a valid concern because if a small hostile predator can defeat so many of them (even with weapons) then a large pack of big predators might kill them all. It's a shitty situation to be in.

All it might take at this point is a nudge. They're both raising good points but ultimately Oren is right, they can't keep going the direction they're going without a long-term plan now that 'hiding' isn't an option.

"What are you gonna say?? 'Hello there, wolves! Gee, you're looking rather peckish, well we have some fresh kits down the path to the left!'" Sorry, I couldn't resist! X3 It looks like Oren's actually might be getting through to Hems. Granted, doubt she'll be like "Here Rask, Sorry I tried to impale you, let's be friends!" but I think she might have her worldview nudged in the right direction.

Props to Oren for managing to keep calm in such a tense situation and do not only the right thing but in the better too: he reaches at Hemlock through words, managing to calm her (which is no small feat) and preventing her from uttering the threat she was about to say (which would have poisoned the situation further with so many witnesses) while already planning the future despite their loss and with everyone's role in mind. He's a good man (hare) and leader, with brain and heart. Too many authors portray good/optimistic/idealistic/non-confrontational characters as spineless or naive. It's proof of Teagan's talent that she understood it didn't work that way and portray it so well.

I guess in next season we will see how they defend hollow, and maybe new predators in team. °×°

Winter is always coming! >.<

Mmm… here we go to the heart of the matter… the plant is taking shape, and the cunning will have to be fine. “To arms citizens! Form your battalions!” Is the season ending? so ... winter is coming. ^^
