Love the scar and missing digits. He's one of the lucky ones. That is what I find so tragic about this world if these animals are all fairly intelligent, but still are caught in the cycle of life and death just to eat or be eaten. I'm sure he's not thrilled about carnivores but that he's so marked by near death and still able to keep his cool about the situation makes me think that he's got a big heart. But this is also why I don't hate on Hemlock (yet), not everyone is able to put aside their trauma and I think that even if she is shown to be more of an antagonist, that is the mark of good storytelling to have motivations beyond "i'm just mean".
