Wolf Pack

Blast from the past! I'm not sure if these have every actually been posted anywhere but here they are now! These are the original color reference sheets I used for the wolves-- named Alpha, Blackfoot, Cree and Delta. In the first draft from 2009, they were just A, B, C and D, and the nomenclature stuck. ;]

I like that you didn't go too heavy on the human-esque sexual dimorphism, as the gender of characters isn't (so far) important to the story, and we can focus more on the overall story without adding that extra layer to it. :) Great job so far. Really enjoying the comic. :)

Yes, she is female! Good eye! :] I focused on making her face shape/cheek roughs a bit more "feminine", and I definitely went a little heavier on her eye lashes than the others. Part of that was early on, she was the first and (for a while) only female character and I was still figuring out how much dimorphism I wanted characters to have.

I know that the sex/gender of the characters is not something you like to focus on for these characters, but Alpha is female, yes? Is it just the slightly thicker eye-lashes, and the lack of brow ridge, or is there more to the dimorphism that my brain is picking up on, but I am not recognizing immediately? Do they have higher cheek bones (lower parts of the eyes are higher than the other three), and narrower/rounder shoulders (from the pencil sketch)? Or am I reading too much into it?
