My understanding is, they mashed out the badgers teeth too, and that was considered to be 'what had to be done to protect our people'. Thus his line about 'the ache stops eventually'. But looks like maybe Oren is regretting this after seeing the badger as a person and maybe is more open to the idea of giving Rask a chance without mutilating him. But yeah I am interested to see if Hemlock is hyper vigilant because of some past trauma or maybe he just really is a sadist who uses this as an excuse?

One of the things I loved about this Comic when I first read it was how much culture and lore you fit into this world without a lot of exposition. Just the Even the colloquialisms are great. I feel like there is a real depth to the characters and settings that is layered in very thick, You really made me care about the people in this world with very few actual pages or lines of dialogue. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but you really are able to capture something special here, and the art is fantastic which makes this really one of my favorite things. But ultimately it's a very interesting concept, you have intelligent creatures who also are dealing with a rather unforgiving world. I think it's natural to become attached to Rask because we see the story from his perspective and experience his pain and hope. Doesn't hurt that he's likable! But you also paint the world as being full of dangers, so life is cheap in many ways so again I won't judge the Rabbit too harshly for wanting to protect his own. Now I have a feeling he could cross the line at some point, but you write your antagonists so well that I always feel some big of connection with them. Even the wolves are given the ability to appear as living creatures with personalities and desires, not just killer robots who serve as a plot device.

Wonderful artwork and a great story. It just draws the reader in. I can't say that I hate Hemlock, (great choice of name considering that hemlock is a poison), but something worse than usual must have happened in his past. I can see prey with weapons defending when attacked but to actively hunt is something else. Hemlock seems to enjoy inflicting pain on those that are considered enemies as well. Oren's statement that once was enough makes me think that Rask wasn't the first predator to arrive at the sanctuary. Maybe the skin that Hemlock is wearing? Keep up the great work.

Ah, thank you for such a thoughtful comment! Really, it means a ton to me that the story is resonating with people in various ways! I love hearing how people are interpreting everything. :]

Also I noticed a lot of hate for our antagonist bunny, but I've got to be honest he's probably seen or experienced things that justify this level of vigilance. I mean maybe people forgot the critter being hunted down and eaten alive by wolves at the start. This isn't exactly Disneyland and I'd have to say that prejudice of this manner is probably a survival mechanism. Having said that, Rask seems genuine and I'm rooting for him to succeed, but the others don't know he's not a threat. I guess it shows the power of storytelling that people are so empathic to our protagonist because we know his story, and the rabbit is just this random violent paranoid stranger.

Funny that you mention it! It does come up (albeit it passing) in a few pages. Scent will play a larger part later in the comic, as well. :]

Yah know I am wondering if you will tackle a rather animalistic issue humans may not find as familiar. To most prey species, predator's scent causes stress. Now these are intelligent animals so they may be able to intelectualize is, but it may simply be unpleasant to be around our protagonist.

A simple "yes, I will take responsibility" would be much preferred.
