Art Preview: Copycat Weekend Penlight Scene

Hiya, cakes!

A little progress report for the mid-month. I'm still plugging away at that extension to Hiroko's Gullible storyline, and it's giving me even more trouble than I expected so I'm not expecting another game update until the end of July. The remaining art for Copycat is coming along as planned though, so here's a few preview sketches of the next CG sequence for that route.

Kyou meets with Akiko over the weekend and takes her through a major shopping and makeover spree. When they're done they head over to a karaoke bar to indulge in one of Nozomi's (and therefore also Akiko's) favourite pastimes. Before they get started however, Akiko drops a bombshell on Kyou: Nozomi, the girl she's been conditioned to imitate in every way, is actually terrible at karaoke. This devastating revelation knocks Kyou for six and he resolves to disabuse Akiko of such a silly idea by either talking it out of her or using his penlight. If he uses the penlight, he wastes little time in shining its light in her eyes again while she's all to happy to sit and watch.

Akiko quickly starts to drop into trance and in no time at all falls completely under, slumping against Kyou at his side as she falls into an entranced sleep. Kyou takes a moment to enjoy the intimacy of the moment before implanting more suggestions into her subconscious mind, telling her not everything Nozomi says is necessarily true and that his voice on the matter may be the more authoritative one. When Akiko wakes, she's mostly just happy about getting to go under again. And with Kyou's new suggestions set in her mind (that Kyou might be able to weaponize later), Akiko gets started on her karaoke performance willing to sing as beautifully as Kyou imagines the real Nozomi can...

Anyway, you can expect to see the finished version of this CG in the next update of Penlight, and probably one more to complete the illustration of a later scene in the Copycat story. See you then!
