Re:Zero - Episode 2: "Reunion With the Witch" Reaction
Added 2023-11-02 22:12:46 +0000 UTCWe keep ending up at the same spot! I think we're looking at one more reset here before we finally get past this obstacle... I really think we need that knight guy's help! I figure, if we have more skilled people at the loot house. We may end up having a shot of at least fending this woman off. Also, was that Elsa comment meant as a Frozen joke? If so, it went right over my head until the end of the episode lol!

For Season 1 at least, you can basically watch them all in pairs, starting with an even number episode and ending with an odd number episode (the directors cut actually pairs them like this into 1 hours episodes). The only exceptions are I think episode 18, which you can watch standalone (16-17 18) or as part of 16-17-18, and 19-20-21, which work better as triples. For Season 2, you can pair things up generally, but it's much more fluid imo. I'd say the only ones you'd really want to watch together are 3-4, 9-10, 12-13, ending at 16, 17-18-19, and 23-24-25. Obviously you won't really miss anything by not following this order, but those are were I generally find there to be a strong feeling of needing to continue.

2023-11-21 01:40:18 +0000 UTCI'd certainly be happy to hear if any episodes are worth watching as a double or triple. Things like that are always appreciated! It sucks going into something you know you only have enough time for one or two episodes of. Then it ends up being the worst cliffhanger of the series, lol! I do really appreciate the comment though! Loving the series, so far! It's a lot deeper and has more twists and turns than I ever would have expected.

2023-11-20 20:53:53 +0000 UTC(1:30): if you want, I can give you some good episode numbers for you to stop at, just let me know, and I'll reply back with where I think are good stopping points. (2:50): No, Felt stole the insignia at the same time (a few minutes after Subaru restarted), in earlier loops he just did other stuff at the start and missed it. (5:10): Subaru goes down the same alley (though all for different reasons). This time it's because Felt went down it, which caused Satella to follow her, which caused Subaru to follow her. Though because he's bad, he quickly loses their trail. The 3 thugs are actually specially targeting Subaru, since he's obviously not from this area and they strike when he goes alone into a secluded alley. Worth noting that Subaru later thinks that it wouldn't matter if he went into a different alley, these 3 would follow him there. (7:20): A good question to ask. (10:10): Yeah it was Satella. A number of reactors I've watched forgot that Satella was also broke and did some interesting mental gymnastics on how it was Subaru who saved the kid again (which he didn't even really want to do the first time). I think it's because in most time loop stories, the looping is more of a comedic thing, so the story progresses relatively linearly with the MC occasionally dying before resuming the the next loop at the exact spot they left off of. And so they just assume that Subaru literally did it again off screen. (15:30): I really love how they did that scene, it really makes feel on edge. Just everything about that scene makes the viewer feel uneasy. (17:05): Elsa is the person who killed them in the loothouse. Subaru learned her name when they were negotiating with Felt in the 2nd loop. (20:15): Thats a really good theory and one I haven't heard before (mostly because people don't care about metia in their theorycrafting). I have some thoughts on the matter, but it's for later, and only if you want know about some cut content later. (26:15): Yeah, Re:Zero really has quite the dichotomy of pacing, since while there's tons of stuff going on in the micro sense (though oftentimes repeated / significant overlap), very little is happening in the macro sense. It's more evident in Season 2, where if you talk to some people, it's too slow and they should of cut a bunch of stuff, and if you talk to other people, they cut way too much already. (26:50): Re:Zero started as a web novel in late 2012 (I think), and Frozen was released in late 2013, so it seems very unlikely that it's a Frozen reference, and just a coincidence. Also technically ice magic doesn't exist, but we can talk about that more that when the story talks about magic stuff. Glad you're enjoying the show. I look forward to the rest of your reactions.
