Or, Why Do I Always Feel So Alone? The first of a two-part series on the Outsider Complex (and archetype), this episode explores the landscape of loneliness—why someone might find themselves repeating self-isolating patterns, and what to do about it. We tackle what "connection" actually involves, the importance of identity to the outsider, how we push "people" away, and what to do when no one is listening. This episode might be challenging for some—we're dancing in the realms of shadow work with this one (especially near the very end). Additional influences for this episode include phenomenologist Matthew Ratcliffe and The Spiritual Dimensions of the Enneagram by Sandra Maitri. My hope is to pave the ground here for part two, which will cover the more archetypal dimensions of The Outsider, as well as his other face, The Prophet.
