Chapter 69: The Minions and Nicolas's Amazement

Erwin could see the meaning behind Nicolas Flamel's test, but he said nothing.

Closing his eyes, Erwin diffused his magic and sensed everything around him.

Under the perception of magic, the whole world divided itself into two colors.

One was the vibrant hue of objects infused with magical power, and the other was the dull black and white of things without any magic.

Erwin suddenly discovered that in this room, besides Nicolas Flamel and himself, there were other sources of magic present.

Those air conditioners, televisions, and electric fans were actually alchemical products.

Opening his eyes, Erwin looked at Nicolas Flamel with somewhat incredulous surprise.

"Mr. Flamel, are these appliances all alchemical products?"

Nicolas Flamel was very pleased to see that Erwin had guessed the answer, and he clapped his hands together.

"Alright, stop pretending. Our guest has discovered you all."

Suddenly, the forms of these appliances underwent remarkable changes.

Every appliance grew limbs and a mouth, transforming before Erwin's eyes.

"Welcome, Master Gaunt." This greeting came from the air conditioner.

"Yeah, it's so boring to accompany the master every day. It's been such a long time since any guests came to visit." The electric fan clicked its own blades enthusiastically, expressing agreement.

"Me too!" came the cheerful voice from the television.

Looking at these appliances, Erwin suddenly felt that Nicolas Flamel was truly an interesting old man, one who had actually created alchemical products from things found in the Muggle world.

And he had even given them considerable intelligence. This was remarkably similar to the creations Erwin had brought along to show Nicolas Flamel.

Thinking of this, he looked at Nicolas Flamel, ready to present his own creations.

"Mr. Flamel, I also have some small things here, and I would very much like to ask for your advice in regards to that."

Nicolas Flamel's interest was piqued, eager to see what kind of works this young wizard could produce.

Erwin opened his carry-on suitcase, took out a small bag, opened it, and tipped it over.

Immediately, three small yellow capsule-like objects rolled out, and then rapidly grew larger.

These creations had limbs, eyes, and mouths.

They also wore some of the overalls commonly seen on workers in the Muggle world.

It was just that because they had no shoulders, the straps of the jackets kept slipping down onto their arms.

Soon, their large eyes opened fully.

After seeing Erwin, they each made excited sounds and then rushed toward Erwin's legs.

Erwin rubbed his forehead helplessly.

"Stuart, Bob, and Kevin, don't move around and let Mr. Flamel take a good look at you."

"Ula!"

When the three minions heard this command, they immediately lined up, attempting to look serious as they faced Nicolas Flamel.

It was just that their big eyes still kept glancing at Erwin from time to time.

Nicolas Flamel, watching from nearby, was already itching with curiosity to examine them more closely.

With his expert eye, he could discern most of the techniques used in Erwin's alchemical products within a short period of observation.

However, he discovered that Erwin's method of granting intelligence to alchemical items was different from his own.

In fact, it was different from any known technique in this world.

Nicolas Flamel directly made his wheelchair float over, then picked up one of the minions to examine it more closely.

"Kevin, don't move."

Erwin instructed the minion, signaling him to cooperate properly.

Nicolas Flamel observed carefully.

"The magic pattern array, the heart of a fire dragon used as the source of magical power, the role of these transmission arrays is..."

As he examined the minion, Nicolas Flamel kept identifying various alchemical techniques and components, which made Erwin admire him greatly.

With just a brief observation, the master alchemist could identify the techniques and materials so accurately.

If alchemy could be divided into levels within a system, then Nicolas Flamel was at the highest or close to that.

These minions were the assistants Erwin had created.

One day, he'd had a sudden inspiration, remembering the protagonist's loyal companions from a film he had seen in his previous life. The minions had been proficient in all manner of skills.

Why couldn't he create some minions as assistants in his daily magical research?

When he thought of it, he acted on it immediately and vigorously.

That was Erwin's style.

So he had spent an entire semester and wasted countless materials.

In the end, these minions had been completed as finished products just a few days ago.

However, he had still needed to use the magic of [Eden's Memory Sanctuary] more perfectly to forcibly endow these minions with some degree of intelligence.

This meeting with Nicolas Flamel was important to Erwin, and the most crucial goal was to understand how to use alchemy to grant alchemical products the ability to act independently, along with a portion of their own wisdom.

"Excellent work, Mr. Gaunt."

Finally, Nicolas Flamel set Kevin down, and the minion immediately ran behind Erwin, eyeing the old man warily.

Could a minion's body be examined and handled like that?

If it hadn't been for his master's orders, Kevin would definitely have given this troublesome old man a good whack.

Patting Kevin's head reassuringly, Erwin quietly waited for Nicolas Flamel's next evaluation.

"The combination of your alchemical applications is very novel, and your knowledge is remarkably solid. You would only need to make some minor adjustments to the combination of the magic pattern sequences. With those changes, this would be a perfect work."

Erwin listened to Nicolas Flamel's comments and nodded in agreement.

After all, Erwin hadn't studied alchemy for very long.

Although he possessed a great deal of knowledge in his mind, his hands were still somewhat inexperienced in practical application.

He had also failed many times during the creation process, wasting considerable amounts of materials.

"May I ask, Mr. Gaunt, what is your method of granting them intelligence? I have never encountered such a technique in any book."

In the end, Nicolas Flamel couldn't hold back his curiosity and asked the most crucial question.

Without hesitation, Erwin directly explained his thoughts and the process of how he had realized the magic of [Eden's Memory Sanctuary].

He even shared details of the technique with Nicolas Flamel to see if the master alchemist could develop a new way to apply it.

Nicolas Flamel became more and more excited as he listened, and by the end, his previously cloudy eyes burst forth with dazzling brilliance.
