☀️ painting process GIF + thoughts ☀️

I've been trying a different approach to painting and I think I might actually be onto something!! The way I'm used to painting is very calculated, all the shapes have to be clear with almost everything having hard edges. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I felt like I don't have more things to say in that style and I wanted to try something new. So I played with brushes and tried a more painterly approach: starting with a value under painting, and keeping a balance between soft and hard edges. ( I lost the very first steps so I couldn't show them in the GIF ;__;)

hmm and to be honest it's quite fun and challenging. The only thing I didn't like about this approach was that it took a long time and a lot of trial and error. But why do I need to be in a rush? and trial and error is probably the beauty of it, right? Each stroke should add life and a visual value to the painting. I'm pretty sure that in time, it will get more intuitive for me.

I like the feeling this style gives, even though I’m not sure the result is that much different from how I used to paint, but I’ll have to make more tests and see what happens!
