March Update '23
Added 2023-03-31 09:47:41 +0000 UTCHey all! Bet you didn't expect an update just before the end of the month.
As some of you who have tried to contact me or paid attention to my presence might have noticed, I have been absent for most of March (and February too, to be honest). The biggest reason for this is that I've had one of my "burned out" periods where I just semi-isolate myself and feel bad for not being more active.
Trust has been put onto my moderation staff to handle most of the guideline defying content and I believe it's been going great. Either that, or there has just been no rule breaking content on the site. I honestly wouldn't have a clue.
I've also been starting to think about ways to get a new system for InflateVids up and running since you may have noticed that the current one has some interesting... quirks when you are a creator uploading or managing your content. That is exactly why I'd love to just build it from the ground up to have full control over the system, let alone make it more maintainable. Hopefully more on that in April.
Money-wise, it's going well! At this point I am in fact not the biggest contributor of money for the month of March, and hopefully soon we'll be able to build up a buffer that makes it so that when the goings get tougher, it doesn't immediately bankrupt my bank account and take the website down.
Lastly, I've had a lot of messages over the past months over the flow of "teasers"/"trailers" coming onto the website. Some entirely against it and some against the non-patron ones (because of using bandwidth for free advertisement). Currently my stance is that it's fine to upload teasers or trailers, even as your only type of content. I believe that it is my job to give value to these people to start supporting on Patreon, which might include things like extra exposure, direct buy buttons on video pages, better statistics etc.. On the other hand, I do also believe a prominent "teaser" tag for these kinds of videos wouldn't be out of place, so that people who'd prefer to avoid these videos can easily identify them, and the other way around of course too.
Any thoughts, comments, questions? Let me know!
Thanks a bunch again for all your support!
Rick

2023-04-11 01:55:50 +0000 UTCI'd suggest a user selectable optional way to "filter" out all the trailers. That way they are on by default, but those who do not wish to see them can simply make them all invisible, similar to pop content.
