The Yankees have lost the 2025 ALDS

There will be no Game 5 of the ALDS. The Yankees were unable to follow Tuesday’s spirited comeback with a Game 4 win Wednesday, going out mostly with a whimper against Toronto’s bullpen game. Cam Schlittler pitched well, but two runs ain’t gonna cut it, offensively. Jazz Chisholm Jr. also chipped in a crucial error, because apparently the Yankees have to make (at least) one of those every postseason.
The Yankees were eliminated at home for the third time in their last three trips to the postseason, and they now enter an offseason that will be too long and I’m not sure how busy. They got a lot of their offseason shopping done at the trade deadline, at least in theory. I’ll have more on Game 4 Thursday. For now, bleh. Another year of Aaron Judge’s prime comes off the calendar.

Looking to next year the Starting pitching is more than set. To start the year you have Fried, Rodon, Schlittler, Gil, Warren as your 1-5 with Cole and Schmidt as reinforcements in the middle of the season. Maybe add some depth guys to stash in AAA but that seems pretty straight forward. The bullpen -- yeeessh. Doval and Bednar are your only high leverage guys on payroll next year. There is going to need to be a lot of heavy lifting. Theoretically the lineup needs to replace one starting OF spot and some complimentary pieces. I don't think they are moving on from Volpe. Jazz and McMahon are there for next year along with Judge and Stanton. Rice seems to be the guy penciled in at 1B, Wells at C. So you're talking about finding platoon partners for 1B, a RHH catcher, and someone to possible platoon with Dominguez as well. Ideally, I would resign Bellinger and go get Kyle Tucker and call it a day but I don't think Hal is opening up the check book.

Seems Cash started to believe his own spin that they could take anyone, redesign them in pitch lab and make them effective.
