Update to Healing & Reactions in Wandering Blades
Added 2024-09-10 17:56:08 +0000 UTCI've been watching a lot of wuxia and action movies in my Discord server (you should all have access) and have started making minor changes to the base systems of Wandering Blades. Here's the updated text for healing.
Rest & Recovery
Outside of combat, PCs heal 1 HIT POINT (HP) and QI POINT (QP) per in-game day. They also recover 1 WOUND per week. Additional HP and QP are replenished during rests. If you are interrupted during either type of rest, no healing is received.
SHORT REST - a quick break that restores a character’s HP by a single HD roll. A SHORT REST takes 1 hour.
LONG REST - an extended break that fully restores a character’s HP and QP, as well as removing all nonpermanent CONDITIONS. A LONG REST takes 8 hours. This requires a character to consume 1 meal (a ration, meal, etc.). A PC may take a long rest without sustenance, but they receive a stack of the hungry CONDITION.
FULL REST - a proper break in a place of safety. Requires lodgings for at least 7 days. Gain the effects of a LONG REST, and remove all WOUNDS and long-term CONDITIONS.

I have also added a new reaction to the game to align with how many wuxia movies work: being able to deflect or catch ranged attacks.
Deflect/Catch
In response to a successful ranged ATTACK ACTION roll, the defender may choose to deflect or catch the incoming attack; nullifying the damage.
