Wandering Blades System Updates
Added 2024-08-30 00:41:04 +0000 UTCHi everyone! I'm still working on the core rules, but wanted to provide an update on some of the mechanics that I've decided to update based on discussions in my Discord server.
Attribute Score has been removed. Anything that required the attribute score will now read as 10 + Attribute Bonus. This streamlines the game a bit, since the score was a bit of a redundancy, and frees up space in the character sheet.
To account for urban wuxia adventures that will be in the adventure zine to go with the core book, I needed to examine how firearms would work in the context of the game (I was really inspired by action movies like Raging Fire and Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In). That said, the Reload weapon feature found on bows and crossbows has been reworked. It will now be written as:
Reload (X) - After making X ATTACK ACTIONs with this weapon, you must spend an ACTION before you can do so again.
Lacerate and Piercing have also been updated for clarity:
Lacerate (X) - Instead of rolling damage dice after a successful attack, you may choose to inflict X stacks of the bleeding CONDITION on the target.
Piercing (X) - Attacks ignore X DAMAGE REDUCTION.
These changes will make them to the quickstart, but I want to finalize more before I give them to my publisher (I don't want to send them a lot of small changes over time).

I definitely think miniatures are easily done with this system! I don't think it'll be extremely tactical like 4e D&D, but miniatures and terrain are certainly something I want this game to support. As for solo mode, I hadn't thought about that!

2024-09-15 05:01:43 +0000 UTCim really excited for this and hope that there will be a solo-able mode, as well as a miniature tactics version down the line. i've been toying with a solo wuxia tactics management style game in my head for a while but havent sat down to write it. glad you are going forward with that
