Added 2024-12-09 17:00:16 +0000 UTCThis one was interesting, in parts of Bulgaria people have festive events where they adorn themselves in variety of bestial displays of furs, monstrous masks, feathers, and strapped with bells across their elaborate costumes.
It's a festival that seems to have origins in warding evil spirits away at the beginning of winter , the sound of bells ringing is how they present that warding.
I struggled with a design a bit bc there is no one way that these Kukeri-designs are made, they're extremely diverse and i highly recommend taking a look at them :)
What I chose from the variety was a main base of earthy tones, terracotta colored mask with flashes of vibrant beadwork and ribbons
