NOTE: This chapter finishes this scene (which means it's got some more steamy stuff to finish off the visit), but it also sets up a few future plot points.
After this chapter, the story will be in a position to focus more on some of the open plot-points (like Liz and Jessica situation, etc.).
Due to the discussion in the comments of the previous chapter (about the relationship-focused aspect of the story), my goal for this chapter was to mostly make it about Kai and Serenity.

FEEDBACK: Thoughts?
1. Does anyone actually like Amber? Or anyone at least generally interested in her character? (I wasn't necessarily aiming for her to be likeable or unlikeable, but so far it seems all the comments are leaning toward not really caring about this Amber character at all, not even enough to get to know anything about her. Which I suppose I find surprising mostly just because she's also supposedly Taylor.)

2. Thoughts about Amber's supposed charm? (I tried to be more intentional about pointing it out this time. The characters are under the assumption that Amber is clueless, but what if she's not? I enjoy it when you guys come up with your own theories.)
3. Looks like Miriam is doing some hiring: Any thoughts on that? (Probably won't be a huge aspect, but it will definitely come up again.)
NOTE: As discussed in the comments on the last chapter, I will make an effort to focus specifically on some of the relationship aspects of the story (which is a big part of what the story has been thus far), not just the steamy parts. Apparently the slice-of-life relationship aspects are the part a lot of you feel like is missing in the last few dozen chapters.
It sounds like the general consensus is that most are interested in about 40%-50% action/mystery plot, maybe 30%-40% relationship stuff, and then maybe only about 20% steamy stuff. Probably everyone has a different ratio they'd prefer, but I'd say most of the story thus far has been roughly 30% mystery plot, 50% relationships, and then 20% steamy stuff.

Really sorry not complaining at all. I feel that you are a great author. In terms of engagement I will put you up with Stephen King and others I have read. Really happy with how you are writing this and total respect for you as the author. Maybe Kai can get the rings he has promised and going forward actually marry the people he is betrothed to. Love the fact you are open to suggestions. Please do not stop writing the and your other story. Both are so engrossing.

At several points in this story, Kai has been like a pendulum swinging, where he goes too far in one direction and has to reign it back in (like when he died, resurrected, and had briefly lost himself entirely). I'd say this is one of those situations, only more subtle.

2026-01-19 18:58:52 +0000 UTCThat's an interesting phenomenon that I've also experienced (the whole, if Kai doesn't sleep then it feels exhausting for some reason). Not sure if you're referring to the same thing, but there have been times when I've felt like "He really needs to take a nap or something" lol. Edit: Also, I believe the last time he slept was after they rescued Vivian (Wednesday night in-story). He went on a date with Elizabeth and Michelle, and then went home and had a hallucination. Woke up in the middle of the night and took a shower (spoke mainly with Miriam in his bond), then went back to bed. He slept in bed mainly with Avery, Serenity, and Gabriella (this was when he really started questioning if he already knew Eve, and talked to Avery some about it). Woke up Thursday morning, day of full moon, and went to class (saw roots after Serenity left). And the night before that (Tuesday night going into Wednesday morning), he slept after he left the hospital from staying up all night (he slept with Raegan in his bed).

2026-01-19 18:55:58 +0000 UTCNot sure about the whole Serenity situation and her working, part time, for Miriam as a sex pet. both Her and Gabrielle still had their rings on when Miriam made the suggestion about employing them. Seems to me they may well have been responding to the ring as they were supposed to using the rings properties. Feels like it is almost a slave ring of sorts. Even Serenity only removed the ring when instructed by Gwen. It really feels to me as though it is going to impact the Kai/Serenity relationship. Felt more like Candy talking as opposed to Serenity being intimate with Kai. Sorry I know its just me but it feels very much Kai is losing his humanity and is becoming very much an incubus and treating the women he is with as sex objects rather than human beings. Sadly the last few chapters have really grated with me as beforehand this whole series had been engrossing. Maybe that's the problem. This is so good that I am heavily invested with the characters and genuinely care about them. Also really start to get the feeling that Miriam is starting to monopolise Kai's harem. Just my thoughts as overall I feel this is such an enjoyable read.

2026-01-19 18:25:23 +0000 UTCSo I really enjoyed the chapter, and I am intrigued by Amber's character, but for me the main issue is that there was SOOOOO much packed into this one day, that it just felt like it was dragging on. I cant actually remember the last time Kai slept, and that just wears me out and makes me feel exhausted. I think adding this extra character and encounter that needed to happen just forced this day to go on longer than most could follow and fully enjoy.

While the last few chapters were well written erotic scenes, it also felt that the plot was being lost to the erotica. There was tremendous build up about Amber being a likely enemy, and then the story dissolved into the erotica. It was nice to see Gwen bring the plot back lightly at the end, but still the Amber character felt like an unneeded detour rather than a continuation of the plot. The sex party would have been more core to the story had it been a celebration with (only) his harem after some huge accomplishment. The scenes with Cherry and Candy were a great callout to reinforcing his feelings for his group, making Amber even more distracting in those scenes.

2025-12-22 05:33:02 +0000 UTCHey been a bit busy to comment and just finished this chapter. I wanted to commend you on the Kai and Serenity relationship aspect of this particular chapter. The emotional bond that these two share in particular (with Serenity having practically raised Kai and sacrificed, im sure at times, her own desires/dreams for his sake) was really prevelant throughout the last moments of them having sex and really added alot of emotional weight and intimacy. Kai finally getting to be "taken care of" in this specific way by Serenity, something theyve both dreamed about for years, was written beautifully and did a great job showcasing just how special and important they are to each other.

The hint at the end that Amber is two different entities tracks with my guess I made weeks ago about her being split into a vengeful spirit where all of Taylor's passion and hate went to, leaving Amber an almost emotionless blank slate. Her daughters almost seem like an unimportant afterthought to her. I definitely vote to keep her around, even if her character isn't explored for while.

2025-12-16 03:50:35 +0000 UTC#2- Honestly, it seems like Amber's charm is pretty consistent with what we've seen with Raegan. It's more subtle than a succubi's influence, and arguably more potent. I can see why Miriam (with a history of paranoia) is curious and concerned.

2025-12-16 03:43:43 +0000 UTC#3- I think that most of the women of the harem are obvious candidates. Rosa, Natalie, Raegan, Alicia, Michelle, and Brook don't have jobs currently. Avery and Claire will be free for full time jobs after graduation. Honestly, Kai may end up "aggressively inheriting" Absolom's business empire from him the way he's making decisions. So he may need people around him he can trust to help him run things. So many of the free women of the harem may be needed elsewhere in the future. As far as outside hiring, perhaps some of Amber's friends or coworkers who are exotic dancers? Personally though, I think Miriam should hang onto her female staff until they leave on their own, retire or pass. Miriam has a bond with each of them, and I don't think there should be an issue with them sticking around so long as they don't cause drama or security issues. Emma, everyone's favorite MILF chef, would be interesting to see in a scene or two, for instance. But at the rate Kai is constantly rescuing damsels in distress there will be no shortage of candidates.
