It was really difficult for Miriam to realize that the ‘true name’ she had called herself for thousands of years -- a name she decided on...

FEEDBACK: Thoughts?

1. Thoughts on the potential Gwen/Claire plan?

2. Thoughts on what happened? (And the implications?)

3. What are you most looking forward to in the plot? (What are you wanting to see next or find out more about? Werewolf Queen is obviously on the 'To Do' list, but what else?)

NOTE: Miriam first mentions the name 'Methuselah' in Chapter 66. The pair of incubi mention 'Zephon' in Chapter 179.

Chapter 192 was when they had lunch, so that was roughly 11 AM (which means 3 hours happened in 7 chapters from Ch 185 to Ch 192). So yes, at Chapter 198 (6 chapters later), saying that it was 'only about noon right now' would be incorrect. It should actually be closer to 2 PM. I went ahead and adjusted the times accordingly. Of course, that's probably not much better in your perception, but how much time passes in a story largely depends on narration. For instance, how much 'narration time' is spent 'in the moment' with him analyzing a situation, versus how much narration time is spent 'setting the scene' by descripting people and environments, versus how much narration time is spent 'summarizing actual time' by simply narrating it. This series does little of that last one. Compared to a book like Eragon, or any other thick epic fantasy book series, you're actually getting a lot less descriptions of the environments and people. The difference is that you also get a lot of summarizing of the story too in those series, because you have a lot of 'nothing' happening in between the big events of the plot. Alternatively, since this story can have steamy time, and since there are people who are always asking for more of that kind of content, it makes sense for there to be 'plot' in between the 'plot.' Of course, the pacing could be more spread out, but it's written like this for a reason. I have other series that are more paced out, like my Immortal Super series (Book 1 is The Daily Struggles of an Immortal).

So assuming school started at 8am in chapter 185 and it is now noon in 198, only four hours have passed in 14 chapters. Between conversations, drive times, and sex, that feels improbable and I found it distracting as I thought more time had passed. I guess it feels like there is a disconnect between the subjective leisure of the storytelling pace and the objectively rapid sequence of events. Not sure why I’m saying this because it’s nothing new for this series. It’s just rarely so jarring.

I see your 'Gwen and Claire seem like a solid pairing' comment, if that's what you're talking about. I don't see anything about the #3 question (about future plot).

I went ahead and put it all together, but italicized 'really stressed me out' for emphasis. Usually when I do an ellipses (...) and then put the next part on the next line, it's for emphasis. And just the idea of even one person I loved dying…honestly, even just the idea of Jessica dying…(i)really stressed me out.(/i)

My #1 comment disappeared?

Christopher Miller

Her property is limited yes, but not necessarily the forest, her property size was mention but not the forest it incorporates a piece of.

JayBase

Gwen and Claire seems like a solid pairing from a power perspective. Also Liz with Tracy, Laura, Jessica are possible candidates with Bethel and outside shot unless she received a body soon.

Christopher Miller

#2- The desert domain being the one in Egypt seems obvious. Miriam's domain as the forest one seems obvious now, but I never perceived it as being surrounded by a "vast" forest. I always think of several hundred acres as being a largish farm or a small to midsized ranch. Am I misremembering just flat out mistaken about the size of Miriam's property?

Christopher Miller

Nicely done.

I’m wondering what your plans are for the trip to Kai’s namesake. Maybe the desert oasis that was mentioned this chapter is in Cairo and if so who did he give the domain to and what relationship do they have with Kai? Also what about a bond with Claire and Petra might be a possibility

Raul Salazar

Nice chapter, and some nice argumentative thinking about dimensional gateways. You weaved it all together nicely, his guestimates regarding them, what actually was physically happening to then put the final peace of the puzzle together. Realisation of domain ownership, being key to opening and closing them and what amount of resources are required to do it. Clever, nicely done.

JayBase

Sheesh Kaizer, this chapter flew out. Normally I give you around one to two weeks before I check for something new. Did you have ants in your pants or something? lol ;)

A potential bonding with Gwen/Claire could be a powerful asset. However, since Gwen doesn't care for Claire, the spark won't be there for the bonding even though their auras almost align. A portal between three of his domains opens possibilities, especially since the desert domain is his lab. I have a feeling that Eve has ownership of his desert domain. Now, he has the opportunity to try forming bonds with the remaining harem members. We have yet to see Kelsey and Rachel, Laura, Nicole, Tracy, and now Brooke. Looking forwarded to seeing if he gives Nick his blood and seeing what becomes of Jessica.

The Archer

So, random thought, but its been bouncing around my brain for a while. Before Kai reincarnated, he remembered everything, didn't he? His memory was not affected by his curse, correct? So, he knew his own name while cursed, and could remember it at some point? If that is indeed true, I wonder what memories that would unlock for Miriam and Abigail? Just random cogitation on that. Great chapter! Thanks, Boss!

Jonathan Depenau

I'm guessing the most powerful. Period.

Jonathan Depenau

Got so confused when i miss read: "honestly, even just the idea of Jessica dying… Really stressed me out. So yeah, I had to make it happen." (was obvius after re-reading it, or reading the next sentence.)

Puggan Se

Personally, I think that having more insight into Claire's thoughts and personality, rather than just seeing her actions, might also improve Gwen's relationship with Claire (or make it worse 🤣).

Itsasecret

Just how powerful was Kai?

J Bone

Awesome chapter again. As far as Claire and Gwen potentially bonding, i feel like in terms of abilities it makes sense as they both possess very rare and powerful gifts that could be argued to be the most important out of all Kais women. I also feel like not having every bonding be solely based on attraction, intimacy or connection, with instead this bonding being a matter of convenience and value, could be a good choice. Not everyone in the harem is going to be 'in love', with there being those that will gravitate more naturally towards each other based on their own unique personalities and the characteristics they value in other people; certainly Claire has a much deeper bond and more in common with people like Michelle, Avery and Nicole, whereas Gwen is obviously closer to the likes of Miriam, Rosa and Serenity. Im sure in time Gwens opinion of her will improve as Claire continues to grow/mature, however im guessing she may never truly 'love' her, or potentially even 'like' her, the way she does other members of the harem; instead she'll "tolerate" her and bond with her simply because she loves Kai, rather than it being something she desires herself. I feel like this makes the whole dynamic within the harem more realistic, as it shows that whilst there will always be a level of care between the women, that doesnt necessarily mean they'll all be bffs who spend time together without Kai; certainly i could see this being the case with Gwen and Claire, who may not interact with each other or even speak that often, unless it involves using their powers to help Kai.
