FEEDBACK:
Thoughts?

There's a lot going on in this chapter, and there will be a LOT going on in the next chapter.

If any sections felt 'clunky,' let me know. I tried to smooth out a few rough patches when I was editing, but I wasn't sure if it's good enough. Anyway:

1. What do you think about Petra so far? (Just in general)

2. What do you think the non-monetary 'payment' was?

3. Thoughts on the unexpected militia assailants?

4. Anything else related to what they discussed? (Your feedback is always helpful, even just pointing out the things that 'stuck out' most to you.)

This situation is very entertaining. I’m very interested in exploring the shadow trinity more. Also, if this is what it’s like when Roland is controlling the underworld elements, imagine if he wasn’t.

mmmmm Intereting chapter, this may fall in with comments for question 3 or 4, but I may lose my train of thought. When the first militia shots hit it seems Jjessica was hit but through the following discusion, it appeared Kai told Petra to go to a fast food joint so Jessica could use the restroom. but if she was hit she'd be bleeding which would draw attention. 1) Petra I think was an overlooked character but now sees him in a different light. Think there may be a chance she becomes part of the harem although a minor part 2) from the comments the 2 dirty cops made, I would assume some sexual favors or something else along the line of that 3) Personally, the unexpected militia I am perceiving as an unexpected nuisance just a human rival organization to try infilitrate or eliminate Roland's organization. Probably best to let Roland handle that situation. 4) Kai asking for a syringe when Roland asked if it were for Jessica which I would assume would be in more immediate need being hit with what I thought was a sniper's bullet due to Claire's concern and what Kai said or was thinking. some how I think Kai will offer his blood to Petra and Jessica a he stated those 2 wll not die here now

I really love your take on Petra. I hadn't actually thought that deeply on what her perspective is, in regards to Claire and Kai (just because I've been really busy), and so this angle is really helpful.

Author Kaizer Wolf

I tried to clarify the scene where he was hallucinating Jessica's death.

Author Kaizer Wolf

At the very least, all the characters who 'look younger' (despite being centuries old) have hormones that are appropriate for their appearance. Same goes for a character like Roland (who looks old, but is a ton older). His own hormones are going to line up with a guy who looks like him (aka, probably still has plenty of sex drive). For a character like Petra, I'd say yeah, she's got some suppressed desires going on. The topic regarding the potential 'conflict' with Ariana should be fun to explore.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Having a supernatural character (like a vampire/werewolf) offer their 'gift' to human servants, but having no intention on ever 'delivering' on that gift, is somewhat of a trope. But yeah, it's an effective motivation that exceeds more material things.

Author Kaizer Wolf

I really appreciate that feedback, because that particular aspect has been 'planned out' for so long, that it didn't feel like anything special to reveal it. So finding out you guys are like "Whoa, didn't expect that!" is great to hear.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Petra being 'hard to read' is definitely the goal, so glad to hear it! Her general motivations will be explained before long though. Probably Claire's biggest issue right now is that she wants to be 'helpful' to Kai as much as possible. Also, it's not that she's 'unaware' but is personally really happy to be with Kai through a 'serious event' and is thus not being sympathetic toward Jessica's situation. Or rather, she's a bit sympathetic, but not letting it bring her own mood down. Basically, Claire is happy to be in the 'inner circle' of Kai's life, and it's generally got her on cloud nine.

Author Kaizer Wolf

This is addressed soon.

Author Kaizer Wolf

I wonder what magic is preventing Kai from seeing how Petra really looks.

J Bone

It appears Roland's Mob boss son has been lacks enough that outside powers has infiltrated his crime organization. Really can't blame Roland who it appears run the legitimate side of things while letting his son the street side. Seeing the offer they gave Jessica, Eric and Brant use their position to drug, use and possible eliminate their unwanted play toys. Cannot get caught if you are looking for yourself. So give them another would be payment like Alice or Reagan.

The Archer

Also, I thought it was brilliant to develop Petra how she is. Yes, she is married with a minimum of two lovers, but after four years with minimal contact with them, very little intimacy, sex and companionship she has to be incredibly lonely. For at least a couple of years now she has been crushing on Kai hard, and sees him as this idealized, fantasy bad boy that in another life they could be together romantically. And now she knows that Kai has chosen to date Claire, the nastiest, most shallow (but very hot) bitch she knows, completely shattering that fantasy she's been nurturing for years. No, Kai would not, as she currently believes "settle" for cute and adorable Petra when a hottie like Claire is available. It will be fun to see Petra reacting to the new and improved Claire. It's also interesting that she concedes Avery as being worthy of Kai, implying she could see herself sharing him with Avery if things were different.

Christopher Miller

There were a few confusing points. Petra said she had turned eighteen 300 times. I originally thought she turned 18 the first time, then 18 years later she was 18 again and so on. That would make her 5,400 years old. I believe it was meant to be communicated that she has her 18th birthday every year since she doesn't physically age. So, since she's about 380 years old she's had more than 350 year eighteen birthdays. Also the scene where Kai has the hallucination of Jessica's death was a little confusing, but I do understand (I believe) now after multiple rereadings. I didn't understand it was Jessica's body slamming into Kai, and the beginning of the vision describing Kai's shock confused me at first. But maybe that was just me.

Christopher Miller

There are some slight differences. This version of her is a bit less unethical and a bit less pushy.

Author Kaizer Wolf

#1- Petra is a centuries old supernatural entity who was turned as a teenager. I wonder if that means if her physical age has never advanced does she perpetually have the hormonal drives of a teen girl? Yes, she's married and has at least two lesbian lovers, but she's implied she's been lonely because she's spent most of the last four years on guard duty as a background character in someone else's story... literally. She sees Kai as a bad boy that could give her the excitement she's never had the chance to experience before. She has all but admitted that she's crushing on Kai hard. And the potential conflict that could cause with Ariana is kind of scary. I really think that after four years of isolation she feels entitled to some fun apart from her wives, who it sounds like she has barely seen in that time.

Christopher Miller

#2- What payment could influence Eric and Brant to take the huge risk of capital kidnapping, and a double homicide, including a police officer? The first thing that came to mind was money AND sex, but upon further reflection that's probably still not enough. But being granted the power of being turned into a supernatural creature like a werewolf? That's much more likely. Of course the downsides of that power up need not be shared. Being an unstoppable, super-strong, regenerating killing machine would be very attractive to a couple of sociopathic bullies like Brant and Eric seemed to be.

Christopher Miller

#3- Honestly, I feel like we have to little information to make guesses about the body armored soldiers. They could be human agents of the Legion, the Blood Trinity, the Vampire Kingdoms, or really, just regular old human mercenaries like Roland believed.

Christopher Miller

#4- I had figured out when Kai's true age was revealed a while back that almost everything that had been hinted about in the past (Miriam's past lover, the origins of the werewolf and vampire curses, the mystery of Gwen's age, etc.) were all tied to Kai's past. So a lot of the reveals didn't really surprise me, but I am consistently surprised by many of the twists and turns the story takes. So Kai has always seen Ariana and her pack as loyal, dependable allies who have always stepped up when he needed them to control supernatural threats. He respected them enough to acquise to allowing them to retire and "forget they existed". From their POV though, their whole motivation was to fade away so Kai wouldn't remember them because he scared them shitless! Liz made it sound like Ariana was the biggest badass in the supernatural world, but the truth of the matter is Ariana is as scared of Kai as much as everyone else is scared of her. It'll be fun to see just how the Shadow Trinity comes to grips with the truth that Kai really is the friend and ally that they never really believed him to be.

Christopher Miller

Kai cannot be defeated. I feel it in my bones

Jonathan Depenau

Ok, so wasn't expecting the werewolves to be subservient to, and created by Kai (Shadow!). Really looking forward to Kai and Ariana meeting (Again!?!)! Good stuff

Jonathan Depenau

Awesome chapter. Petra seems very...odd, in the sense that her mannerisms and demeanor shift rapidly from one form to the next. It makes it hard to get a full read on her; obviously the queen werewolf wanted Kai to forget them, yet Petra seems to very much want to be a part of his life, shes also flirty with him and seemingly cares who he dates, yet at the same time is wary/terrified of him and is doing everything in her power to not offend him. Itll be interesting to see how her character develops the more we get to know her. She also clearly has a low opinion of Claire, which perhaps isnt a shock considering Claires past actions/attitude at school; i wonder if theres some past grievances between the two. I feel like ive gone in on Claire my last few comments lol, so i'll just say her revealing secrets as if its no big deal is concerning; also her seemingly having no awareness of the mood/atmosphere within the interactions, with Claire being "cheerful" at a time of great stress for everyone involved, again for me shows a lack of maturity and seems to be a common character trait/flaw, one that could definitely cause future complications. Finally just want to say im loving the direction the stories heading, with more focus on the supernatural mythology within the world, as well as the introduction of key figures from Kais past. Also Elizabeth and Natalie are two of my favourite characters, so im hoping theyll be getting lots of attention since ones a werewolf and the other is a former werewolf now turned hellhound, and it seems like we'll soon be learning alot more about the lore/past of the werewolves and what exactly Kais involvement was in it as 'Shadow'.

Carl

Loved the introduction of Petra. I love it when people are so smug in front of Kai only to humble themselves when they realise who he is. 😂

Salvo

Quick question. Is this Jessica following the same character profile as the Jessica from IDH Taboo chapter 87 in terms of love interests? Also the payments mentioned are probably drugs and girls and the militia are mercenaries hired by a rival supernatural syndicate moving in is my opinion
