FEEDBACK:
Thoughts?

1. What did you think about how things played out? (Initially, I had plans for Kai to use his fire magic to cause some confusion and fear, but things just played out differently when I actually wrote it out. Anyone disappointed by that?)

2. Thoughts on who showed up? (Both to 'help,' and to take Kai back to school?)

Everything that did happen was great. As others have said, great character development. I do have to wonder where Jessica's phone was, though.

I'm glad Roland showed up, but I'm surprised how it happened. Kai has a number of people he can lean on, like Roland via Kelsey, to do things like call him a lawyer, or Serenity to show up and make sure an expected interrogation is done fairly. Skipping those elements was obviously done intentionally by the author, but it was awkward and heavy handed. We just got through chapter after chapter about him needing them to keep in touch with reality in multiple ways, it's a real stretch that he would block them out when he could use their help (Before or after it became obvious they were going to try to kill him) or that conveniently none of them were paying attention for this whole ordeal, with all his strong reactions.

My initial reading says great chapter. It is an change of direction if I understand it correctly from my first read.

Claire appearing after Kai is taken was a surprise. Was not expecting Roland to appear but not surprised..Jessica I always thought would be added to the harem. Kai's level of caring for her has changed now I believe. I will assume, he will offer his blood to her to save her. Petra was a surprise and I had forgotten about her. That she is an ally may cause him to also give her his blood to prevent her from being controled by his enemies

I'm really glad you thought it was great. Sometimes when I get around to these chapters (where I've sort of had the plot planned out for a while), by the time I write it I don't feel like it's anything too special. So when you guys are all like "Wow, that was amazing!" it's great feedback and encouragement too.

Author Kaizer Wolf

In real life, that would probably be a smart move. The problem is, I'm not sure how the plot would be able to progress. I mean, I guess it could still progress without being 'involved in daily activities' (school, work, etc.), but feels like it puts a big limitation on the story. But in reality, yeah that would technically be a really smart move.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Love that angle.

Author Kaizer Wolf

But it's more fun to overwhelm Jess, lol. Some good ideas though (how others can be involved). Sometimes my focus gets really narrow and I can lose sight of how others might be able to help.

Author Kaizer Wolf

I'm actually glad you brought up the issue of 'keeping enemies alive' (for interrogation), because it prompted me to elaborate on that.

Author Kaizer Wolf

The Elizabeth situation is a can of worms just waiting to be opened (no one from her past likes her, lol).

Author Kaizer Wolf

As someone else pointed out, Claire is very much 'taking to heart' what Natalie told her about 'being willing to die for him.' This is something I plan on her bringing up later. The unexpected 'realization' that one might truly be immortal can...perhaps lead to a bit of crazy thinking.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Glad you liked the twists!

So, as all my comments below, I believe this was an awesome chapter that potentially set the stage for a lot of things. I am stoked to see how these play out, even if it turns out I am wrong about a lot of my conclusions. I am super excited to see how things go in the near future. But, Claire and Jessica's and even Kai's character development this chapter was amazing. The twist of Petra's reveal was incredible and I cannot wait for more. This was the best delivered chapter we have had for months! Love it!

Christopher Miller

On my last read through I JUST realized all five of 'broken chain of command' agents (two police detectives and three paramedics) who tried to attack Kai or his women, were all men. Meaning, all of them were very, very succeptible to a succubi's charm. We now know the Blood Trinity, who are lead by a succubus was responsible the meat curse at the memorial dinner. Could she be trying to eliminate someone she sees as a threat to her plans, or possibly just being petty because Kai spoiled her most recent plot? Honestly, I believe that Vivian, now that she's awake, will corroborate this.

Christopher Miller

OBTW, I really think Claire has every excuse to not be in school for the rest of the week at least! She suffered at minimum a severely broken nose with dozens of witnesses. When she does return an illusionary bandage complete with faux swelling and bruising would be reasonable since those can take weeks to heal. Matter of a fact, I think it needs to be discussed that Kai and all his women need to disappear instead of sitting in the open and being used for target practice. Claire nearly died at the hands of the paramedics and Kai was subjected to a kidnapping that could have easily killed Jessica. His father, brothers, uncles and the Legion all know where he lives, and if they wish they were could ambush him putting the lives of his women at risk. To say nothing of this new threat that's using Roland's syndicate against Kai. They would all be safer hidden away in Miriam's mansion.

Christopher Miller

I had actually anticipated Jessica and Abby to join the harem very early. In the first several chapters Serenity and Gabriella were the only options, with Abby and Jessica, Serenity's friends from work, being mentioned multiple times. The implication that all three were attractive and roughly the same age, which meant both Abby and Jessica were very likely candidates, since until Michelle and Avery were introduced there was literally no one else we as readers knew about. Then in the car, Eric teased Jessica about going on a date with the blonde hottie from narcotics and Jessica just lost it. Why? Jessica has been very casual with her sexual relationships. Going so far as it having a lot of ONS's and threesomes with married couples in quick succession. Why would she be upset with Eric pursuing another woman? Unless, the "Hottie in Narcotics" is someone Jessica is close friends with. Someone like Abby, and Eric was really taunting Jessica with the fact that not only was he moving on, but that by proximity he was putting her friend Abby in mortal danger by dating her since he was fully capable of killing any one around him in cold blood even if they were lovers.

Christopher Miller

Also, Petra's interactions with Kai seem almost, well, flirtatious. Or am I completely off central with that?

Christopher Miller

Few random thoughts. I assume Jessica will be driving the police cruiser back to the city garage and won't be around for the discussion with Petra. This would probably be best to keep Jess from being overwhelmed with all the stuff that she' knows about the world being wrong. It would be best for Jess to join a tete a tete tonight with Kai, Serenity, Gabriella and Delilah at least. Serenity will provide familiarity and and a context of stability. Gabriella can reveal what he really is and verify his character based on her experience of what happened with the serial killers. Delilah can break out a moonstone and solve the mystery of what her supernatural species/curse/disease actually is.

Christopher Miller

#1- I loved both Jessica's and Claire's development as characters in this chapter. We now know Jessica isn't just a hypersexual floozy living dangerously. She believes that she is terminal with zero chance of living past the next couple of years, so yes, she's very hedonistic and living life on the edge. But she's also dedicating her life to saving others and giving them a chance to live the life she believes she won't be able to. To the point she's willing to sacrifice what's left of her life to save an innocent. She's so much more complicated and good than the silly slut she appears to be.

Christopher Miller

Ariana, The Queen of all werewolves and her two wives defer to Kai. Awesome. Can't wait for more

Jonathan Depenau

#2- I was actually expecting Roland to show up, contacted by Kelsey perhaps to keep the death staining thing at bay, or at least deal with clean up and help with interrogating a survivor (Brant or Eric) that was kept alive for that reason. I keep expecting Kai to keep enemies alive who have information he needs for questioning. Possibly even dumping them at Gwen's feet so she can pick their brains clean for every last scrap of usable information. Barring that, I was expecting Claire to either blind Brant and Eric with light magic, or make Jess invisible and keep her off the side and safe while Kai killed the two cops using his enhanced speed and strength. Petra was a very pleasant and welcome surprise. Suddenly, getting a hold of Ariana for information about his wards gone wild is easy mode.

Christopher Miller

AWW!, The chapter felt a little short in comparison to your norm. As I was really getting into it, it was over. Anyways, considering Roland has been a cartel head for so long, longer than is even possible in reality as cartel bosses generally have a short life span due to the nature of their business, and the fact that he only manages one state and not more. It would mean he has made deals with neighbouring cartels/mobs to keep peace, trade movement, etc and cartels/mobs always having a spy network in all the states to keep apprised of who or what could pose the next greatest danger to his enterprise while simultaneously always looking for scenarios which would allow action for more power or to negate power from others, keeping the balance. Also considering that they are all immortals and have travelled the globe, including other dimensions. It would make complete sense that they have a vast knowledge of all the types of supernatural beings that exist and have existed, if no longer. And which of those supernatural beings are dangerously strong, congregate generally as a group and would have the guts to go up against them. And out of those, it's guaranteed that he would be monitoring them as they could be a threat. So for him to have no idea who it could be, makes no sense. He could at least present a list of at minimum 3 to 5 possibles... Either that or he is shit at his job. We know it could be the Werewolves or the Legion. But they are aware of his power and would never send two idiot corrupt cops unless they were sent to die, and are there simply hidden to gauge the level of Kais power. Now being aware he has the Wearwolf Queen and the Beaumont's backing him up. It could also be another real Arch Demon, that has been watching him from the shadows and messing with him through influence to gain a sense of Kai's true strength before making a move. Or a larger group than the Legion and Werewolves. Say the original group and pact that defeated the original GOD claiming entity that originally cursed them all back thousands of years ago. A group like that I suppose could kill them all, even Claire the Phoenix and pose a very real threat. And then like the supernaturals that were created by curses. There are also supernatural immortals that existed before the GOD entity, in relation to heaven and hell being there since time first started. I guess the conundrum lies in how many of those beings or groups did Kai piss off in his previous life who would firstly know who he was and want revenge. Secondly, since his reincarnation was top secret, realistically of those possible enemies from the previous life, how many of them could know or suspect who he is now.

I'm gonna go back and re reread Wolfgirl's Pet Witch again. Seems like an appropriate time

Jonathan Depenau

Awesome to see Roland v3.0 come in and woop ass. I wonder what the big bad alpha queen wolves will think of Kai's personal hellhound ( also, Elizabeth?).

Jonathan Depenau

Things are starting to get more interesting.

Great chapter. I really enjoyed how it played out. Looking at Claire's disregard for his feelings in a whole new light. The new improved Claire will to kill so Kai isn't stained by death is an entirely different level. Really didn't consider Roland showing up to help. It is funny that two rogue cops are turned in by their own boss. A boss is also in charge of Serenity, Nick, and Jessica as a special case homicide unit. Adding Jessica makes even more since now, especially as backup for Serenity. Also, even though the queen wanted Kai to forget her and her wives, she knew, or at least her wives knew they may need to be close to him just in case.

The Archer

Awesome as usual, keep em coming please.

Great chapter, I liked the choice of Roland being involved rather than Kai handling the situation himself; whilst I do love seeing his true form/powers unleashed, with the way the story flowed into meeting Petra and the new information revealed this chapter, im glad Roland was their to sort of connect the dots. Claire being so willing to kill for Kai leaves me with mixed feelings; whilst I can understand the perspective that her actions are positive and selfless, im personally left feeling like she is making these choices from a slightly more selfish standpoint, one of wanting to prove herself as Kais partner rather than simply wanting to be helpful; for me her entire demeanor when interacting with Jessica shows a lack of empathy for what someone Kai cares about has gone through, with her seemingly having almost no awareness of just how dangerous the situation was and that Jessica is obviously struggling to deal with whats happened. Instead shes described as practically "giddy" when conversing with her; almost as if she only cares that she was there for Kai/could be useful to him and therefore strengthen her position in Kais life, with Jessicas obvious trauma being almost insignificant to her. This egocentric viewpoint for me again shows the flaws in her character that could stop Kai from fully bonding with her, while her arrogance/naivete in perilous situations could eventually cause harm to Kai or those he loves; her own hubris and feelings of being untouchable, added to her lack of understanding of the world shes been thrust into, could have far reaching and potentially dire consequences. Having said all that I acknowledge I could be being too harsh on Claire and that my perspective on her may be too negative; either way im excited to see how her character will develop and evolve during the story. Finally, im excited to see where the story leads from here; it feels like we're getting into more of the supernatural lore and world building which i love. Also hoping that Kais main women are involved soon; it feels like ages since some of the characters have had a significant role in the story, which I of course understand, but selfishly alot of my favourite women are the original wives eg. Serenity, Gabriella, Gwen etc. Im also wondering if Delilah or Miriam have any connection to/knowledge of the werewolf queen and how they might react to her involvement in Kais life, as well as Elizabeths feelings, and whether she'll struggle now that she has a new alpha/is completely devoted to Kai, yet she may still have unresolved feelings/loyalties to her former pack.

Carl

I loved the twist of Roland showing up. Caught me by surprise, a very good surprise. And now knowing he had additional watcher around him. Should lead to an interesting meeting with the head wolf. Happy with the way the story veered right suddenly. Keeping us on our toes. As I have said before I live your writing ✍️.
