It was an interesting chapter. There seems to be a lot of focus on trying to figure out Eve's identity. Even with Roland previous mentioning, she will return after completing her appointed task. With them knowing Kai is pretty much immortal, it wouldn't be needed for someone to protect him, only keep him mentally focused, which would be Nicole and Avery. The conversation with Micah was awkward, to say the least. Her and Roland have feelings for each other. However, they kept their distance seeing if Kai would want her. With the ending, I think whatever barrier Kai had Eve setup is either failing or converting since Kai is regaining his power. He could have set up a safe area where future harem members lived using precognition. Eve mentioned the land where Serenity and Kai live. Also, he started the barrier where Miriam lives. So it makes sense.

I've been curious if the others blood can break curses without triggering a full change like Kai's does. That could play out a few interesting ways, such as Roland and Joseph being able to break curses or extend the lives of someone they care for, or if only those also soul bonded being able to do it. I can't remember if they tried to give Rosa their own blood before or after the soul bonds. I think it was before the first bond? Why is he ignoring Avery's birth mark, not checking it, or having someone else check to verify if she and Michelle both have it? If Kai is convinced he's having hallucinations instead of visions or alternate time lines, it would make sense to check important things. If he's some sort of time looper or reality hopper, would the affects of going back and changing the past be able to carry over the marks from other loops? We still don't know the full extent of his abilities, so who knows. Elizabeth's fear seems out of place if they think he's fully immortal and only worried about going insane though. Maybe only Avery or a few of them think that, I'm not sure. The pauses in speech made every character read like they're William Shatner and now... I can't... unsee it. It seems like they all let stress get to them very quickly and just shut down until someone hits them with a clue by four lately. It's been a big change over time from having self confidence to being this meek or uncertain in situations that don't require violence. Maybe it was gradual and I just missed all of it. I really like the world and the way different races/species are handled. Just a bit confused on the shift in tone after he changed his brother/nephew and crew.
