NOTE: Okay, so comparing the two different polls (Top 1-5 and then Top 6-10) there is a very clear collective ordering of the characters. Of course, you personally might not agree with this exact order, and a character who is low on the list might even be your number 1, but this is generally how you guys feel about the characters as a group.

But first, let me explain how I came up with this ordering.

For the raw ‘Top 5’ characters poll, the clear ‘collective’ order is: 1) Serenity, 2) Natalie, 3) Avery, 4) Gwen, 5) Gabriella, followed closely by 6) Miriam and 7) Kelsey.

(Note that it’s possible no one actually ranks them in this order, only that these are the characters most frequently in the Top 5.)

However, the list I am making is based on ‘character importance,’ and so this is where ranking characters 6-10 comes into play. For instance, Gwen is #4 on the Top 5 list, but if you consider how many of you guys consider her in their 6-10 rankings (aka, Top 10, but not Top 5), then Gwen moves up to #2 as ‘most important,' moving Natalie down a bit.

Part of the reason why this happens is because, while a lot of people rank Natalie as being in their Top 5, very few others rank her in their personal Top 10 (meaning, she’s a character you either love a lot, or don’t care much about). This also happens with Miriam, who is a bit lower than Gabriella for Top 5, but who is A LOT higher in the Rank 6-10 list, which bumps Miriam up above Gabriella as generally being a bit more important. Technically, it happens to Rosa too, who probably should be moved up a little, but I feel like Gabriella and Kelsey have too strong a lead in the Top 5 to bump down (meaning, Rosa is a very solid ‘Rank 6-10’ character). In a way, I’d say that Kelsey and Rosa are pretty close to being tied for importance. (Yay for quiet shy Rosa!)

So anyway, this is the list I’ve come up with, and it’s basically broken down into the Top 7 who are most commonly in everyone’s Top 5 of their overall Top 10, followed by the next 7 characters who are also pretty important and most common in everyone’s Ranking from 6-10. After that, the last 5 characters sort of drop off a very obvious cliff, in terms of importance, which basically just means it is rare for them to be in anyone’s Top 10.

One could say that the distinction between how you guys 'collectively' classify the characters is similar to Kai's classification of Wife, Concubine, and Girlfriend.

Of course, if a ran a poll for ‘Who is your number 1?’ probably most of these characters would get a vote. In particular, I have Rebecca as number 13, but I know there are some who would rank her as their number 1. This is just based on everyone’s collect preference, with almost no consideration to actual order (aside from Top 1-5 and Top 6-10).

Now, just because a character is low on a list doesn’t mean they won’t get attention, but this will help me get an idea of who I should focus on most in the upcoming plot. As I mentioned, there’s a pretty clear Top 7 and Top 14, with these three categories following pretty closely to Kai’s mental classification of 'Wife’ vs ‘Concubine’ vs ‘Girlfriend.’
