God if I had to guess Reagan feels like his soulless creation with how mixed up she is, but Roland said she was in a safe place I thought, and Kai didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with her. And Miriam, man idk, don't like her hiding things tho lol... Going to bother me until I know now lol. And that's why you did it, not for me but for the reader in general, I'm guessing lol.

2025-01-13 02:54:07 +0000 UTCSerenity, at her core wanted to protect and provide for Kai. Granted, that had its origins in Absolom's manipulating here. There was also a bit of conflict in Serenity developing romantic feelings for him, but those were easily and quickly resolved. Raegan, by your own admission is a pile of conundrums rolled up into one. She would hate being a whore, but loves the idea of being paid for sex by one man. She's a doormat, but tough as nails. She doesn't want to hurt innocents, but she's super willing to push someone away and stomp on their feelings even if they are trying to help her. Etc etc. That intra-personal conflict is what defines a complicated, conflicted character. Miriam and Delilah have this to a degree, as do most of the newer girls after we get to know them, but Raegan beats them all hands down for complexity.

Gabriella, like Raegan, waned to find true love in a stable relationship she could build a life around. That is fairly uncomplicated and straightforward. The complications occurred only after it was revealed she was a succubus. Something she didn't REALLY believe before she started having sex with Kai.

Like, how are these characters more emotionally developed than others? Perhaps a bit more complex, but I'm not sure that equates to emotional development. If you can please elaborate.

2024-05-26 20:04:33 +0000 UTCI am extremely keen on seeing the reveals that need to be sprung on Rachel & Laura. 1) That everyone who shares Kai's blood with him is functionally immortal. 2) Rachel's supernatural bloodline is angelic, just like Michelle and Avery. 3) Rachel not only has a 'mother' (Eve), but also stepmom (Nicole) and a 'sister/half-sister' in Kelsey. 4) His true physical form. They're are not going to be pissing their pants scared anymore, and might even find his true form comforting since he can better protect them. 5) It would be best for Kai to tell them pretty much everything. His trauma at age nine, killing serial killers, as much of his history as he knows it, as well as the seven new women in his life. He didn't count Bethel and Eve before, now there is Tracy, Claire, Nicole, Raegan and Kelsey. All these women that were added in less than 2 days!

2024-05-23 16:26:08 +0000 UTCAlso, Raegan needs to get past being a "sex demon". She obviously thinks she is going to have to prey on mortals to survive and become a 'whore'. If Kai, Michelle, Rebecca, Miriam or someone else explains succubi and incubi are not 'sex demons', but humans who have been cursed she should settle down some. Plus the fact it is possible she can live a life where she isn't a living as a slut or victimizing mortals.

In general, your last several characters you have added are all much more complicated than most of your earlier ones. Claire, Marta, Erika, Haley and Raegan are all more developed emotionally than a lot of more established characters.

I can’t wait to see what happens with his brother’s visitors that were asking questions, what happens with Eve(?) when they meet, what happens with the person who wanted him to forget them, and the probably larger vampire issue that brought his vamp into his life. I just have to be patient as you build his family.
