NOTE: In the comments, the conversation of ‘quality’ vs ‘quantity’ has come up (again). If you love this story so much that you almost feel addicted to it, that’s because it’s taken me 3 years to write this far (first chapter was posted Aug 2020).
And the story would absolutely not be nearly as great if I’d written it faster.
That’s just how it works.
The more ‘original’ a story is (the more 'original' the characters and plot are), the more time and effort it takes to write.
And it’s the same for Combat Healer too.
I try really hard to write a completely original story, and that means it ends up taking a ton of time for worldbuilding, plotting, writing, and editing. I want the next few chapters of Combat Healer to be amazing, but that takes time.
If I were to try to 'rush it,' then the end result wouldn't be as great.

FEEDBACK: Thoughts? Obviously, some chapters are going to be 'super amazing,' and some chapters are going to be 'necessary tie-ups of loose ends.' Not every chapter can be 'amazing,' but we are getting to some interesting plot points coming up.

I am kind of scratching my head about all the 'appearing normal' talk because I feel like Kai and all of his women are sort of oblivious to the circumstances. Kai now owns the entire city. He doesn't need to appear normal for anyone directly under Beaumonts influence (he just had all the craziness involved with Claire and Trey just swept under the rug) So that kind of takes care of that. Appearing normal for the Incubus? NOT having an endless stream of women coming and going from his place would seem really really weird... So I guess I just don't get exactly why he feels like he needs to try to carry on like nothing has changed at all, since that would seem awfully suspicious to anyone aware just how much his life truly would change since he met with his father and is now 'part of the family'

I came from a different site after seeing the taboo version of this story and fell in love with it so much that I reread from the beginning of the original version to catch up. As long as you’re actively writing this story fans like me will continue reading it, thank you

Love the story and path you are on but a lot has happened in only a couple of weeks time for Kai, right? Maybe consider using italics when Kai and others mentally conversing vs just his thoughts. Though at this point are any of his thoughts really only his? These are just suggestions based on comments from others posting to you. Don't have to change a thing as totally enjoying the worlds you have created!

I often find myself lost in the frenetic pace of mind to mind conversations and how these thing are happening in the world around the characters. the sense of time in this story is so hard to keep track of especially when you over lay the memories/flashbacks.

Read a few other that do mistakes more frequently, so often comment when I got stuck on a sentence. And yes I'm from Sweden, use English a lot, vut terrible at spelling in both languages.

Dante is firmly on "Team Kai" now, Rosa has come into her own, barring a major plot twist Trey will no longer be an issue. The mystery of Eve is for the most part solved, even the puzzle of Elizabeth's children (to be confirmed) is answered. So yeah KW, keep on keeping on. Lots of stuff is being juggled right now, so of course it takes longer to plot stuff. I'm not leaving 😁

2023-11-13 18:12:19 +0000 UTCSo 'Not like' has a bit of a sarcastic undertone, which could be playfully sarcastic or more serious (but still sarcastic). It's the same as saying 'Not as if,' such as "It's not as if any of us would get tired anyway." Saying 'Not that' in this situation gives a much more 'very serious' impression, because it removes that undertone. It's much more straightforward, and it makes her sound like she's being 'reassuring' (which she is, her tone is reassuring and comforting as she's rubbing Kai's back). Technically, the difference is very subtle, but when I think about changing it to 'Not like,' it causes a lot of subtleties change, such as how I imagine Serenity's tone of voice, the facial expression, etc. It also kind of makes her sound like a jerk in this situation, since no one is ready 'for joking around' after something so serious happened. 'Being playful' here would sound very out of place, and no one would be ready for it. If I were going to put 'Not like,' then I would need to put, 'She scoffed, her tone becoming playful as she tried to lighten the mood.' before 'Not like,' because the tone has shifted dramatically from when she said, 'We can all give CPR' just before that. Hope that makes sense. I think you've said before that you're not a native English speaker (that it's not your first language), and it's kind of hard to explain subtleties like that, because I usually don't have to think analytically about why it's different.

I’ve read a lot of online novels from different sources and the one thing I really appreciate from all of them is not that they release consistently, but that they stay in touch with their readers. Too many times I’ve seen writers reach a climax or integral part of their story only to go on an unannounced hiatus or worse, go dark and never be heard from again. So you at least mentioning whether you’re keeping a schedule or announcing a delay in releases goes a long ways.

However I also know how much time is needed to be devoted to world building and all that. You have a crazy good story with amazing world building and I appreciate that. Keep up the good work!
