An excellent video. You've done a fascinating and valuable deep analysis of both of these plays. But having watched the video I am baffled by something, and that is its title. "Why Straight Creators Fail Queer Stories." You certainly discuss the "fail" part with intelligence and insight. But you barely mention the playwrights, say nothing of their backgrounds and respective creative processes, so I'm left wondering where the "why" went. Why DO they fail queer stories? Did I just miss something?

As someone who has only ever seen the film adaptations of both Angels in America and RENT, I always thought Mimi coming back to life was one of those things that film studios made them change. The much more theatrically obvious choice would have been to have her death carry through so that's really fascinating to learn that it is baked in actually.
