James: I very much understand your worry over making it public after people paid to see it, but this is an important work. Everyone needs to see it. And I bet the vast majority of people who bought in to see it found the quality of the video so high that they'll continue supporting you.

Tbh, i'm not a patron for the exclusive things. I'm here because i love your work and i want you to be able to continue. So yeh, i think more people should be able to see your videos

It's an important message that should be public, imo And as patrons I think we all agree that we're here because we want to support your work, more so than exclusivity

I came here because of this video, but I'm staying even if it goes public. I think it should go public, really.

My heart says public or public for pride month, but honestly I think it should be whatever's best for your financial situation/health of your channel. You do incredible work and while I think it would be a net good for the world if more people saw this video, if keeping it exclusive would help you create more of the videos you want to make, then that might be an even bigger net good imo.

I joined just for the video, but I think it should be made public; we get videos earlier anyway, and that’s enough for me, and I don’t think it’s fair or helpful to keep information exclusive, and I feel like this is too important of a topic to not be shared.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Whatever happens, I'm still going to keep supporting your work as a patron, but this is the sort of video and information that could really benefit our community to have access to good information about.

I just joined your Patreon this month because I wholeheartedly believe in the work that you and your team are doing with this channel. Our people have fought hard not just to tell their stories contemporarily, but to have our history unearthed and recognized in spite of attempts to destroy or hide that history. I think our history should be as accessible as possible to as many people as possible. Again, I'm here because I believe in what you're doing and what you do deserves to be seen by everyone. I vote for making the video accessible.

Youtube shouldn't have blocked it in the first place. But absolutely make it public, I did sign up to watch the video, but all of your videos are so great, you gotta share them with the world.

I support your channel because I want to support your videos. I’ve had a busy month and I haven’t even gotten around to watching it yet but exclusive content is not a primary reason I support anyone on Patreon. Definitely share it, I say!

I found your channel about two months ago and have watched about a dozen of your videos. I did just sign up as a patron to see this video, but I would have done so anyway. I believe that this needs to be seen by as many as will watch it.

Make it public. We got early access and that’s a privilege in of itself. Make that money and spread awareness. The message is important.

The only reason I think it should be public is so that I can share it with others. I think it was extremely important and informative.

I think it’s a really important video. People should have access to it.

The queer panic defense video prompted me to subscribe. I feel that it should be made public, as a very powerful piece recording queer history. Your work is well worth the price of subscription regardless, and early access is a common patreon reward.

glad this turned into a poll. As I was watching it last night I thought about how this is the single most effective argument I've ever heard for federal hate crimes legislation, and that I wish it was more public so I could show it to people who don't think we need them.

This is an important part of our history and it needs to be shared. Monetize the fuck out of it. I think it would be cute to get early access to video in the future but your content is awesome!!

Personally, I joined the patreon because I love your work and want to support you as a creator in general, not because I expect anything to be "exclusive" or just wanted to see one video. That being said, I think the early access at this point is really more than enough - everyone in the public deserves to witness the hard work on your part and the raw impact of the stories told.

I've been a patron for a while so I sure don't mind it going public but I can't speak for the people that signed up exclusively potentially to see that. But I feel your content is effective and educational and that's quite an important topic and I would hate to think that anything I said prevented it potentially getting to a wider audience and educating people.

Like I said on your previous post, I think the valuable information in the video could do much good if you make it public. That, more than anything, is important. The fact that all the hard work you put in could have a monetary gain for you this way is also nice.

I’ve been a patron for a while so I can’t speak as someone who signed up for this video, but I think you should make it public -you deserve the revenue that would come from it. It’s a really good video and it’s obvious you put a lot of time and hard work into making it. We still got early access to it as patrons so it’s like what a lot of other creators do as a patreon bonus anyway!
