Weekly news 2018-09-10: ep27 storyboard, website's cache, reinstall of OS, website CPU and new home!

Hi Patrons!

I spent the last week on the story development of episode 27. It was a bit long to warm-up my drawing skill after a full month of DIY in the house so I took time to sketch and get back to my comfort zone. After a couple of day, I could start storyboarding and sketching the new episode.

I'm working now around the idea of a big event in the little world of Hereva named the "Coronation of Coriander". It could be a new story arc spread over three distinct episodes. It's an ambitious project with many characters, new place in the city of Qualicity but also right now a bit too complex to fit the Pepper&Carrot short episode format and that's why I'm working to simplify it and remove what's not necessary. I'll see how it develops and tell you more about it next week.

Another big part of my time was spent into the update of my operating system. I updated my old outdated and end-of-life Kubuntu 17.10 to the newer Kubuntu 18.04.1. And that mean; reinstalling everything from scratch. Before doing it, I decided it was the perfect time to switch my hard-drive to a SSD. All went well, but It's always difficult and long to setup correctly everything (tablet script, multi-screen, driver of video card, color calibration of monitors, adapting to new name for dependencies and hurting distro-specific bugs.)

I also worked on the www.peppercarrot.com website; the server of the website had CPU issues during all summer and my host was starting to complain about the project on a weekly basis. But thanks to the big contributions of Jookia and other fixes; the website is now consuming less than 1/4 of what it was before. The website is now ready to welcome more visitors; they are increasing month after month and optimization like that are vital for the project.

In the process, I setup http://test.peppercarrot.com ; a version of the peppercarrot website to test new codes. This test area reflect the source code of the website here. This tool will help to welcome eventual contributors curious to put hands in the P&C website.

That's all,  thank you a million times for your support!
